ST MATH – GiGi

• K-5 grade-leveled instructional software is designed to help all students reach math proficiency through self-paced, language-independent, mastery-based objectives.

• Interactive, graphically-rich animations that visually represent mathematical concepts to improve conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills.

Program Format

• Students are enrolled for 180 full days each school year and follow the same school calendar as all 1-12 grade students.

• Full Day students arrive in the morning along with all other students in grades 1 through 4 and leave at the end of the school day with all 1 through 4 graders.

• Half Day students are enrolled in a morning session.

Kindergarten Ready-Start• First 2 Days of the School Year

Meet and Greet with parents Time to meet students and learn more about

their pre-reading, mathematics, and small motor skills.

Information will help teachers to provide a strong program for students

Registration Process

Friday, March 7th —DEADLINE FOR FULL-DAY PROGRAM APPLICATIONS

Tuesday, March 11th — Lottery drawing, if necessary

Friday, March 14th — letters of acceptance mailed

Friday, April 8th — Deadline for Full-Day Deposit

August – letters confirming school/teacher placement mailed

Flexible Attendance Boundaries• Maintain stable school attendance • Ensure equitable class size across

the three elementary schools• Maintain space for art, music,

Title I/LAP and Technology• Minimize involuntary school

transfers

School Placement Process

Fill out spot map – this is used for placement (include daycare information)

Request specific school – we try to honor, but it depends on class size

BISD staff analyze data, balance school attendance and class sizeApril through August

BISD staff will mail final school/teacher assignments Week before school starts

Full Day Financial Considerations• An annual tuition of $3250 ($325/month) has

been established by the district to fund the staffing and operational costs associated with the portion of the program that is not state funded.

• Financial assistance (50% tuition and 25% tuition) are available for a limited number of applicants.

Other Kindergarten Options

• Mosaic Home Education Partnership Program Serving families for over 15 years at Commodore. We

offer campus classes typically two afternoons a week, provide curriculum resources in consultation with an academic advisor monthly, and create a Written Student Learning Plan under WA State Alternative Learning Laws.  These kindergarteners are enrolled as half-time BISD students and fulfill their hours of study at home and in conjunction with campus classes.  Independent Homeschoolers may also enroll to be a part of campus classes, while maintaining autonomous control of their child's academics.

Spanish Immersion Multiage Program at Ordway Provides 50% of core instruction in Spanish. Program

Goals:• Academic achievement in two languages• Bilingualism and literacy in two languages• Cross cultural competency and respect for

diversity
