‘Twas December 19th
‘Twas December 19th and all through the school,
The students were wired but trying hard to keep their cool.
The teachers were all grading finals and entering them online,
In hopes that report cards could go on time.
All the Squires were ready to hang out with friends,
Thankful that finals had come to an end!
Mr. Bertram, jamming his iPod, and Mr. Harris on his phone,
Couldn’t believe how the semester had flown!
When out in the parking lot there arose such a roar,
Mr. Bertram was shocked; he’d never heard this before.
Away to the parking lot he flew like a flash,
Everyone moved, so they wouldn’t get smashed.
Gray clouds filled the sky, heavy with snow,
Which gave ominous shadows to objects below.
When, what to his wondering eyes did appear,
But a big yellow school bus full of holiday cheer.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the CNMS family to yours!

Dear Mr. Bertram and the CNMS Sixth Grade,
I wanted to send you an email to thank you and your
sixth graders so very much for the build a bear my
son received today at school. I was so surprised when
he brought him home and saw the joy he had opening
him up and reading the story written for the bear. He
had him eat lunch with him and hasn't put him down
yet! Thank you again for giving my son such joy this
holiday season and I hope you have a relaxing break!
Pets for Vets Craft Show
The CNMS GenerationOn service club hosted a
craft fair and bake sale during the week of Decem-
ber 8th. Students made a variety of crafts ranging
from holiday wreaths to hair bows, and yummy
baked goods. They sold their wares during after
school events to raise money for Pets for Vets, an
organization that helps provide shelter animals a
second chance by “rescuing, training, and pairing
them with America’s veterans who will benefit from a
companion animal.” This week the students opened
a “Santa Shop” during lunch to sell the items that
were leftover.
Thank you to everyone for making this activity a
huge success! GenerationOn will be donating over
$300 to Pets for Vets!
How Many Socks Are in the Box?
WOW! SQUIRES ROCK! In the month of December,
which was only 15 days total, students successfully took
537 Accelerated Reading practice tests! It’s amazing
what a few socks in a box can do!
The contest winners were: Megan Reger (week of 12/1-
5); Harley Clark (week of 12/8-12); and Carley Worthing-
ton (week of 12/15-19).
However, the real winners are those that read!
Today’s Readers are Tomorrow’s Leaders!
Ms. Pearson, Librarian
This week’s winner is Carley Worthington
of Ms. Brasel’s homeroom. She guessed
that there were 2 socks in the box and she
was exactly right!
CHS Riley Dance Marathon
The Castle High School Student Council will be hosting its annual Riley Dance Marathon on Saturday, February 21,
2014 and Castle North Middle School students are invited to participate in this event. On Thursday, students took
home a liability agreement that needs to be returned to school for those wishing to participate. All money and waivers
are due to Castle High School by January 9th. Important: All money, t-shirt sizes, and waivers must be turned in to
CNMS by Tuesday, January 6th. LET’S BEAT CSMS ATTENDANCE AT THIS EVENT!
“Cheer For A Cure” T-shirts
The CNMS Cheer team will be participating in a competi-
tion called “Cheer for a Cure” in January. Cheer For A
Cure donates money to cancer research facilities locally
and nationwide. They give money directly to afflicted
families who have a loved one suffering from cancer and
need assistance to alleviate the added stress of medical
and house-hold bills. In order to participate in this great
event, the CNMS Cheer team are selling t-shirts for
$12.00.
Help support the cheerleading program at CNMS! CNMS
Cheerleaders are selling "My Heart Belongs to the Blue
and Gold" t-shirts for $12.00. Please complete the at-
tached form and return to the office before

Needed replacement copies
Like many items used often, books tend to get lost. A
series without a book can be quite aggravating. If you
are like my family, the holiday break is often a time of
removing the old to bring in the new. The library is in
need of the following books:
Guinness World Record Book 2004
Guinness World Record Book 2006
Guinness World Record Book 2008
Guinness World Record Book 2009
Guinness World Record Book 2010
Ripley’s Believe It or Not books
If you have any of these books or other titles and would
like to donate them to the library, please feel free to do
so. We can put them to good use!
Happy Holidays!
Ms. Pearson, Librarian/ Media Specialist
