Twenty-Seventh Sunday in
Ordinary Time
October 6, 2019
Thank You Donna Nielsen We wish Donna Nielsen well who has taken a new position with the Christian Brothers Ocean Tides in Narragansett effective October 7th. She will continue to help us until we transition to a new person. Donna has served in various capacities on the St. Thomas More staff for 29 years. She has been a friendly presence and support to the clergy, laity and visitors to our parish. In particular, she has been an anchor to the elderly and morning Mass community. We wish her well in her new endeavors. I am hoping to have a coffee An after a morning Mass in the next few weeks when it is convenient for everyone to express our thanks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am happy to share with you the preliminary results of the Mustard Seed Orphanage Fundraiser at the Dunes Club. We still have donations coming in and we still need to pay a few bills. We raised approximately $38,200 after expenses! The total cost to send the 20+ missionaries is $44,000. Missionaries are fundraising on their own to cover some of their flight expenses and we receive some medicines in grants. Thank for ALL your prayers and support. Keep up the prayers for the orphans and our mission team. If you have not seen the short video we showed at the event please log on to our Facebook page. It is the first time we have video of the previous trip.

Men’s Bible Study
Our parish has a very active group of men, who for more than 16 years, have met each Saturday at 7:30AM in a "round table" format to discuss the Sunday scripture readings. It is very informal and attended by some scholarly and not-so-scholarly folks. It’s rewarding and even some fun. Bring your coffee and come on over to St. Thomas More parish hall!
Speaking of God Almost everything said of God is unworthy, for the very reason that it is capable of being said. --St. Gregory the Great
Rosary at Planned Parenthood Please join Servants of Christ for Life on Saturday mornings to pray the Rosary at Planned Parenthood,175 Broad St., Providence, at 8:30AM. All are welcome to attend and offer up this time in prayer for an end to abortion. Call or email Tyler Rowley with any questions: 401-290-7201 or [email protected].
Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time October 6, 2019
Come, let us bow down in worship; let us kneel before the LORD who
made us. -- Psalm 95:6
Faith through the Holy Spirit Jesus and the disciples had been together for quite some time when the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith”.· Even though they had witnessed the miracles, heard Jesus’ teaching, and eaten with him at table, they sought greater faith in him. The same might be said for us. In the waters of baptism, we were drawn deeply to Christ and filled with the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, and still we often struggle to have faith, or enough faith, or the faith that we need in the circumstances of our daily lives. In his second letter to Timothy, Saint Paul urges us to rely on the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit, as we are challenged to live in faith and witness to the love of Christ. We hear this same sort of reliance in faith in today’s first reading from Habakkuk: “For the vision still has its time, presses on to fulfillment, and will not disappoint; if it delays, wait for it, it will surely come, it will not be late.”·
All are welcome to join us for a Rosary Prayer Service to
Our Lady of Guadalupe for the unborn.
All ladies in attendance will receive a long stem rose.
