God’s Word Directs Our Life & Worship
Psalm 119:73-80 Your hands have made and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your
commandments. Those who fear you shall see me and rejoice, because I have hoped in
your word. I know, O LORD, that your rules are righteous, and that in faithfulness you
have afflicted me. Let your steadfast love comfort me according to your promise to your
servant. Let your mercy come to me, that I may live; for your law is my delight. Let the
insolent be put to shame, because they have wronged me with falsehood; as for me, I will
meditate on your precepts. Let those who fear you turn to me, that they may know your
testimonies. May my heart be blameless in your statutes, that I may not be put to shame!

God Calls His People to Worship Psalm 146:1-2
*God’s People Respond with Praise No. 2
O Worship the King
3
*God’s People Ask for God’s Blessing (Invocation) *God’s People Profess Their Faith The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things
visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father
before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not
made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who
for us and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy
Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under
Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again
according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right
hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living
and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the
Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and
glorified; who spoke by the prophets; and we believe in one holy catholic and
apostolic church; we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and we
look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Facing Up to Our Sin Before God
God Instructs His People in His Standards Philippians 2:3-4 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant

God Assures His People of His Grace in Christ Philippians 2:12-13 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but
much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is
God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

PRAY FOR THE WORLD, OUR AREA, AND OUR CHURCH Our Featured Missionaries of the Week: Matt & Jenn, England. “Praise God for the summer kids
club we just completed, and pray that all will carry the good news of Jesus with them and come to know
Him personally. Pray for renewal during the month of August, for God to provide a local pastor to be
raised up, and for the transition of some short-term workers in September/October. And, after visiting
over 150 local houses, pray that many would come to know the love of Jesus as we are in the process of
delivering Bibles to 20 people who requested one”.

INVITATION TO THE LORD’S SUPPER Our congregation will celebrate the Table of Our Lord today during this morning’s
Worship Service. Participation in the Supper is an expression of faith in the crucified
and risen Christ, and of commitment to live for Him.
Who may participate in this special meal of faith? We believe that participation in the Lord's Supper requires:
1. Baptism in the name of our Triune God.
2. A personal and genuine faith in Christ as Lord and Savior.
3. A public profession of faith as evidenced by:
Membership in a church, which teaches the Gospel, taught by Christ in the Bible, or
A personal testimony before a committee of our Elders.
4. A repentant heart that is prepared to obey Christ's Word as enabled by the Holy Spirit.
5. An understanding of the elements used in the Lord's Supper.
6. Proper preparation of one's heart for communion with Christ.
If you believe that you are unable to meet these biblical requirements for participation in the Supper, please
speak with one of our Elders or Pastors. We will be happy to explain to you how in the future you may
celebrate the Lord's Supper with us in a biblical manner.
THE LARGER CATECHISM Q.171. How are they that receive the sacrament of the Lord's Supper to prepare themselves before they come
unto it?
A. They that receive the sacrament of the Lord's Supper are, before they come, to prepare themselves
thereunto, by examining themselves of their being in Christ, of their sins and wants; of the truth and measure
of their knowledge, faith, repentance; love to God and the brethren, charity to all men, forgiving those that
have done them wrong; of their desires after Christ, and of their new obedience; and by renewing the
exercise of these graces, by serious meditation, and fervent prayer.
Q.174. What is required of them that receive the sacrament of the Lord's Supper in the time of the administration
of it?
A. It is required of them that receive the sacrament of the Lord's supper, that, during the time of the
administrations of it, with all holy reverence and attention they wait upon God in that ordinance, diligently
observe the sacramental elements and actions, heedfully discern the Lord's body, and affectionately
meditate on his death and suffering, and thereby stir up themselves to a vigorous exercise of their graces;
in judging themselves, and sorrowing for sin; in earnest hungering and thirsting after Christ, feeding on
him by faith, receiving of his fullness, trusting in his merits, rejoicing in his love, giving thanks for his
grace; in renewing of their covenant with God, and love to all the saints.
Q.175. What is the duty of Christians, after they have received the sacrament of the Lord's Supper?
A. The duty of Christians, after they have received the sacrament of the Lord's supper, is seriously to
consider how they have behaved themselves therein, & with what success; if they find quickening &
comfort, to bless God for it, beg the continuance of it, watch against relapses, fulfill their vows, &
encourage themselves to a frequent attendance on that ordinance; but if they find no present benefit, more
exactly to review their preparation to, & carriage at, the sacrament; in both which, if they can approve
themselves to God & their own consciences, they are to wait for the fruit of it in due time; but, if they see
they have failed in either, they are to be humbled, & to attend upon it afterwards with more care & diligence.

A vital part of Trinity’s community life and spiritual growth are our
small groups. These meet during the school year and are known as
Shepherd Group Communities. A Shepherd Group Community
meets on various nights of the week with a SGC Leader at least
twice per month to grow in the grace & knowledge of Jesus Christ
and in love for one another. Together they praise God, ponder
the Scriptures, pray for one another & Kingdom concerns,
and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ
to each other and the world.
If you’re interested in joining one of these groups, stay tuned for
updates throughout the summer.

Membership Has Its Privileges!
Are you interested in pursuing becoming a member of Trinity? The Session of Trinity Presbyterian Church believes it is a Biblical Principle that Christians should formally affiliate themselves with a local congregation. At Trinity this is done through becoming a “communing member” of our church. This membership brings privileges and responsibilities. Each Spring and Fall the Session provides opportunities for people to explore becoming a member. There is also a “communicant’s class” at the beginning of each calendar year to help prepare young people to join the church. A class to introduce Trinity to potential new members will be held during the Sunday School time, beginning September 9th. It will continue on Sunday mornings throughout the Fall. During these classes, potential new members will hear a summary of the Gospel that Trinity proclaims; review the questions that must be answered in the affirmative in order to become a member; meet the Pastors and other church officers; learn about our Missions program and various other opportunities to serve; receive books and booklets to introduce you to Trinity’s beliefs; receive information on Financial policies, Child Protection policies, and Darkness to Light training; and much more. These classes will introduce new people to our church’s beliefs and government. It will explain what we believe that members must affirm and what we believe that members don’t have to affirm, but which our officers must believe. These classes will be led by Pastor Eickelberg, along with the other pastors and Ruling Elders at Trinity and various other leaders of the congregational ministries. This class would be for all those older teenagers and adults interested in membership. If you are interested in attending, please contact the church office.
