Tips & tools for (star.ng) sourcers
In my last blog* I wrote about the fact that sourcers like to share.
*You can find it on my SlideShare page: slideshare.net/renebolier
Since there are a lot of recruiters that have ‘never’ sourced but want to learn how to do it here are some great and very easy to apply sourcing Bps and tools sourcers shared at Sourcing Summit Europe that I would like to share with you:
Tip 1: Familiarise yourself when you are recruiBng in a city for the first Bme.
Tool: Google Streetview
Tip 2: Do cost of living comparisons
Tool: Numbeo
Tip 3: Decide on which region to focus on.
Tool: Jobboards. (They show demand per region)
Tip 4: Check which languages are used by local employers.
Tool: Jobboards.
Tip 5: Check where people from certain schools typically move to. Tool: LinkedIn Alumni
Tip 6: If you find somebody, check what other channels that person uses. Tool: About.me
Tip 7: Get an in-‐country web footprint. Tool: Google. Search for a name and exclude the social giants (LinkedIn, Facebook etc.)
Tip 8: Check usage/ penetraBon of social media plaZorms per country.
Tool: Socialbakers
Tip 9: Find companies you might want to focus on from an external perspecBve. Tool: LinkedIn. You can see from which companies employees are coming from.
Tip 10: Find out what people like and use it when you approach them. Tool: Facebook Graph Search. It shows you what people like, what books they read, what music they listen to etc.
Tip 11: Replace ads with informaBonJ
Tool: RapporBve. It’s a Gmail plug-‐in that
shows you shows you where people are, what they do, what they are saying etc.
Tip 12: Find out what’s wrong with your emails. Tool: Yesware. It’s a Gmail plugin that shows you the open rates of your emails. If nobody opens your emails; your subject line is wrong. If people open your emails, but don’t respond; your message is wrong.
You want more?
Most of the Bps and tools you saw were shared by these people, so follow them and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
