TIME TRAVEL - HISTORIC TIME

May travelling be considered the opposite of Moving?• You move from home to school and back• You travel not only from one geographic point to another, but

from a perception of world to a different one• This is the meaning of growing too: passing not only from one

age to another, but changing the vision of reality• Therefore we made a comparison among different ways of

travelling, different ages and life phases. Let’s have a look!

DRIVING• Our grandpa and granma began to travel by this small but unique machine (still widespread in Italy).

• After 2° World War and Re-costruction of the Fifties, the FIAT CINQUECENTO became a symbol of Economic Miracle of the Sixties.

• Thought and advertised as a familiar car, it gave to the owners a sense of INDEPENDENCE: you may move yourself not queing for a ticket or waiting for a train!

• When and where have you felt this impression?

RIDING• Daddy and Mummy had maybe

tried to ride a motorbike like this, a symbol of Rebels of the Seventies, the years of Protest to the West Development Model.

• Riding and camping and may be hearing a rock-concert in group, was an attempt to create a different way of life.

• Free-love, free-use of alcohol and drugs, suggestions of Eastern Philosophies, are means for DECONSTRUCTION a boring and senseless SOCIETY.

• Have you ever felt such a wish?

Eighties are the years of ECONOMIC DEREGULATION, according to Liberism doctrine. West world became richer and oppressive than ever.

Travelling by ship, leaving the world behind and hearing maybe no human voice was a special way of reaching FREEDOM.

A quite common dream… Have you ever tried?

Nineties are the years of ECONOMIC and SOCIAL STAGNATION. West World begun to be afraid of Future and possible consequences of Banks collapse.

Climbing on to mountains, alone or in a small group, searching fresh air and LONELINESS, was a symbol of rejecting feareness.
