Humility is the key to begin every turnaround with God.
A common denominator in every Biblical turnaround is the process of humbling ourselves before Almighty God.
So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time He will lift you up in honor. 1 Peter 5:6 NLB
We can either humble ourselves or God will humble us. He suggests that we humble ourselves.
Then Hezekiah repented of the pride of his heart, as did the people of Jerusalem; therefore the LORD's wrath did not come on them during the days of Hezekiah. 2 Chron. 32:26
The degree of humbleness we walk in governs the measure of grace we discover.
We live in an age that is boastful and defiant toward a Holy God. We, as followers of Christ, should demonstrate a posture of humility before God and in our relationships with others, and He will lift us up!
B. We must seek Him for His answer. Matthew 7:7-‐8
God’s promise to provide a way out of our problems is sure but it is conditioned upon our tenacity to ask, seek and knock.
Too many people are not persistent in their asking, seeking and knocking so they are unable to find the way out of their problems.
Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. 1 Chron. 16:10-‐11
C. We must hear the voice of God.
When people humble themselves before Almighty God, He speaks His answer and obeying His directions is vital.
God is a communicator. Recognizing and listening to the voice of God is a critical part of our relationship with Him. Our safety, security and future depend of how well we are listening and responding to God’s voice.
He’s working on our behalf even when we can’t see it all. He has a plan and purpose in whatever we walk through. He can cut a clear pathway through anything as we submit our way to His!
“I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19
Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
Matthew 19:26
I. Understanding God Specializes In The Impossible
Over and over in scripture we see a reoccurring theme: An impossible situation involving anything from annihilation in warfare, or an incurable condition or an immovable barrier standing in the way of concerning the will of God; the Bible is loaded with examples of victory over the impossible when God has His way.
In seemingly hopeless situations when we can’t see any way out, God’s power has the opportunity to shine the greatest. It’s in those times when we come to the end of ourselves, where we know we can’t depend on our own abilities, on anything we have, or anyone we know, but instead are reminded that we are totally and completely reliant on Him -‐ it’s those times that are the most powerful of all.
We should adjust our thinking; seeing God accomplish the impossible is normal in the kingdom of God!
No matter what predicament, problem or difficulty you are facing the Lord has a way when there seems to be absolutely no solution in sight. God always provides a solution to any problem we are facing in the will of God. My advice; Get used to it.
II. Biblical Responses to Impossible Situations
When faced with seemingly impossible circumstances the response of the righteous is very significant to the outcome.
A. We must humble ourselves.
Core Point: Impossibilities are inevitable in the pathway of the righteous. The wonderful thing is that we walk with our God who has never considered anything to be “impossible!” He will handle the impossible for us!
Core Statement: I walk with the God who does wonders! Nothing is impossible to our God! I will humble myself and seek His solutions and listen for His voice of deliverance for my life!
