A 7-member ANAPEF board was duly constitutedfollowing the successful launching of ANAPEF.Senior Dr. Alooma Borquayewas elected ANAPEFpresident along with Seniors Kwadwo Osei-Akoto(1976/78) as Secretary and Richmond Kyei-Fordjour (1988/90), as Treasurer. KWADWOADUTWUMThis past summer, Senior Kwadwo Adu Twum(2004) started a mentorship and collegeplacement program. With help from Prempehtutor Senior Peter Agyemang, students wererecruited from the roboticsandmath& scienceteams,andgroomedtotaketheSATtests.Afterinitialscreening,Kwadwoselected9studentsfortest registration. He supported them financiallyandpaidfortheirtests,transportationandotherrelated expenses. These students performedexceptionallywellwithstellarresults.Withearlydecision,KelvinAttaBaafithusgainedadmissionto Cornell University, New York with a 4-yearscholarshipworth$76,500peryear.Kwadwo is a nuclear engineer and lives inMinnesota. He is passionate about helpingenthusiastic Prempeh graduates gain a footingacademically. ANA is appreciative of his effortsand proud to announce the adoption of thisprogram. ANA will financially support theprogramwithKwadwo’sdirection.

2017UPDATEbyJ.KojoKittah,Editor-in-ChiefANA successfully launched the Amanfoo NorthAmerica Prempeh Endowment Fund (ANAPEF)thispast September at theAnnualReunionheldat Springfield Virginia. The theme for the eventwas“footprintsonthesandsoftime".The event also celebrated the class of 1974/76.At thebusinessmeeting,Amanfoodiscussedthepolicies and governance structure of the newlyformedANAPEF.SeniorDr.Adubofour (1974/76)gave an insightful presentation on diabetes.SeniorCliffordMpare(1974/76)alsospokeabouttheGhanainvestmentclimateandopportunities.The highlight of the 3-day reunion was thefundraising dinner dance. His Excellency SeniorDr. Barfour Adjei-Barwuah (1960/62), Ghana’sAmbassador to the United States, was guest ofhonor. Senior Yaw Asare-Aboagye (1974/76)chaired the event. He recalled nostalgic schoolactivities during the 70’s and read a letter fromthe very first student admitted in 1949.He alsoentreated all Alumni to support the school.Keynote speaker, Senior Kofi Bonner (1974/76),shared his experience from a recent visit to theschool.Heacknowledgedtheexcellentacademicachievements of the current crop of students.Prempeh College won the 2016 edition of theWorld Robotics Competition held in Michigan,andrecentlywonthe2017NationalScienceandMathCompetition. SeniorsKofi Bonner andYawAsare-Aboagyeeachmadeadonationof$10,000towards the ANAPEF, setting the tone for theevening.At close of day, $86,165.80 had been raised inboth cash and pledges, bringing the totalcontributionsraisedin2017toover$100,000.00.The first ANA lifetime Achievement Award waspresented to Senior Dr. Kwaku Ohene-Frempong (1964/66), professor of pediatricsat the Perelman School of Medicine at theUniversityofPennsylvania,anddirectoroftheSickleCellFoundationofGhana.ANA and ANAPEF continue to seek ideas onattracting secure sustainable contributions fortheendowmentfundwithanintermediategoalof$1millionfund.
