2 the google apps suite of online software offers a lot of opportunities forcollaboration and instructional opportunities outside a traditional class settingand within.

Jun 28, 2011 5:15 PM

3 If possible, capability should be there since it's almost impossible to haveinformation loaded on device to cover every situation, especially in educationalsetting. Situation slightly different if device being used as job-aid. Depends uponapplication, budget.

Page 4, Q22. What do you consider is the future of mobile learning in your institution/organization? (Responsesmay relate to, preparing mobile content, creating more suitable apps, providing users with mobile devices;greater access etc.)

1 access Jul 1, 2011 9:47 PM

2 I am on my iPhone now and I have seen iPads used in kinder classrooms andup...i think the major issue of mobiles in classroom is as I said above. Cheating, cost, access etc. I think the time will come but some issues will have to beworked out,

Jul 1, 2011 6:07 PM

3 There is some resistance from the faculty, but students will demand theimplementation. Administrators will need to provide more support for appropriatecontent development.

Jul 1, 2011 5:06 PM

4 Enhance communication with learner/parents; a major shift in how/what weteach

Jun 28, 2011 5:15 PM

5 We are not there yet! Jun 27, 2011 11:39 AM

6 Having meetings via podcast. Jun 24, 2011 2:33 PM

7 Use of online platform to promote learner autonomy Jun 24, 2011 1:00 PM

8 Specific areas might make use of mobile learning, but generally wireless laptopwould be used.

Jun 24, 2011 11:47 AM

9 We are researching issuing pads to increase literacy and allowing smartphoneuse in ever class in a responsible manner

Jun 24, 2011 9:15 AM

10 If I don't drive it, it won't happen. Resistance by leadership to using phonesduring meetings. Seen as a distraction and a waste of time.

Jun 24, 2011 8:44 AM

11 We are just planning on starting to use mobile devices next year. I think mobiledevices will be a Swiss army knife for students across the curriculum.

Jun 24, 2011 6:43 AM

12 Greater access Jun 24, 2011 1:25 AM

13 really varied - access content, outreach to community -- really it's hard to predictand will probably be a bit of everything

Jun 23, 2011 11:34 PM

14 1:1 rollout of student netbooks is ongoing over several years. Jun 23, 2011 11:31 PM

15 Preparing mobile content in order to engage studebts and provide greateraccess, as well as expand and extend learning.

Jun 23, 2011 11:27 PM

16 Must teach students how to use the mobile devices for a variety of purposes. Most students are great at using phones for gaming, communication but notnecessarily education means. Also, there must be access to mobile devices andfunding including devices just for teachers issued by the employer. Educatorsshould not be using personal mobile devices to communicate with students.

Jun 23, 2011 11:26 PM

17 Mobile learning will be more frequent in organizarions but will not take the placeof the computer...

Jun 23, 2011 9:28 PM

18 I think mobile learning could have an incredible impact on how we structure highschools if we allow it to expand possibilities. Our own fears are probably ourbiggest barrier.

Page 4, Q22. What do you consider is the future of mobile learning in your institution/organization? (Responsesmay relate to, preparing mobile content, creating more suitable apps, providing users with mobile devices;greater access etc.)

19 Flexibiliy forour students and staff. Jun 23, 2011 7:58 PM

20 More Apps, specialized Clouds and real time connectivity with other devices. Jun 23, 2011 7:39 PM

21 Shifting the Assessment process. Jun 23, 2011 7:04 PM

22 Access, taking learning out of the classroom Jun 23, 2011 7:03 PM

23 I believe the iPad will be the future. I think the versatility of the operating systemand the applications that can be added can be used to make tasks moreeffective. For example, there are applications built for the iPad that work with thePowerSchool program that our board is using for attendance. The list is hugeand growing that will reinforce all subject specific information for students in aninteractive and engaging atmosphere.

Jun 23, 2011 2:24 PM

24 ease of access Jun 23, 2011 10:08 AM

25 We continue to encourage the use of personal mobile devices in my district. Jun 23, 2011 7:28 AM

26 Unsure. Jun 22, 2011 7:11 PM

27 Each student with there own mobile device. Jun 22, 2011 7:09 PM

28 Greater access to information/resources/tools. Greater communication withstudents Greater transparency for students in terms of assessment, purpose etc.

Jun 22, 2011 6:43 PM

29 Without teacher access, resources, and time, it won't happen! Jun 22, 2011 6:36 PM

30 I think we are very much behind Jun 22, 2011 6:14 PM

31 slow adoption by pioneers only; but active use of iPads in teacher education. Jun 22, 2011 10:29 AM

32 being able to be connected everywhere without having to pay fees. Jun 21, 2011 9:18 PM

33 I'm not familiar enough with the possibilities to answer this question. Jun 21, 2011 3:13 PM

34 Would be a very slow adoption. Jun 21, 2011 2:09 PM

35 We need to create more suitable content Jun 21, 2011 1:38 PM

36 No discussions about mobile learning at this time. Jun 21, 2011 10:46 AM

37 Problematic mobile devices very costly poverty is an issue for many students Inaddition many of these devices require vision or manual dexterity to use hugeproblem for disabled students .

Jun 21, 2011 10:34 AM

38 I hope that using mobile apps will become the norm, that students will be allowedto use their own mobile devices and apps that they are most familiar with, thatgood teaching will be augemented by the use of mobile devices, that mobiledevices will be viewed as a tool to be used in the process of learning and thatultimately the conversation will be about the learning and not necessarily aboutwhich tool got students there.

Jun 21, 2011 9:42 AM

39 Greater access. Jun 20, 2011 10:45 PM

Page 4, Q22. What do you consider is the future of mobile learning in your institution/organization? (Responsesmay relate to, preparing mobile content, creating more suitable apps, providing users with mobile devices;greater access etc.)

40 greater access to the internet Jun 20, 2011 6:42 PM

41 much of the questions do not personally apply Jun 20, 2011 6:36 PM

42 It is exciting to think about the potential uses of mobile devices in teaching andlearning; however, like all technologies, they will over-promise and under-deliver.Lack of skill, training, support, and time will remain the biggest barriers. I havevery little faith that my institution will ever take mobile learning or any other formof tech-enhanced learning seriously enough to provide the types of resourcesrequired to be successful in this area.

Jun 20, 2011 5:10 PM

43 Undecided... Jun 20, 2011 4:55 PM

44 The use will grow rapidly. I'm a slow adopter but am coming on board and cansee this taking off in the future. Access to mobile and devices and cost will bebarriers.

Jun 20, 2011 4:50 PM

45 I'd like to see teachers provide more mobile content, to provide studentsalternative pathways to share, to colloborate, and to demonstrate knowledge.

Jun 20, 2011 3:32 PM

46 Creating more suitable apps that are content-rich, up-to-date, shareware andcopy-left.

Jun 20, 2011 2:55 PM

47 developing apps, training on choosing and using apps in an academic setting, making current content more mobile-friendly

Jun 20, 2011 2:48 PM

48 The very near future needs to see all students given access to a computerduring all school hours - 1 computer per child. I teach in a community schoolwhere student engagement is very low. When I use the computers theengagement increase 100%

Jun 20, 2011 2:11 PM

49 EXTREMELY HIGH Jun 20, 2011 1:56 PM

50 Our system is switching over to PC and up until now we have been Mac based. Iam concerned that there will be more viruses and the machines will break downmore often with the high volume of student use. I think it is also a challenge tokeep all staff members current.

Jun 20, 2011 1:31 PM

51 I think that the reduced cost of mobile devices will eventually provide ourstudents with more consistent access to web-related services. As studentaccess becomes more consistent, teachers may be more willing to prepareonline content and pursue a more paperless classroom.

Jun 20, 2011 1:13 PM

52 Providing physicians, residents, and medical students with point of care tools sothat they can provide better patient care at the bedside.

Jun 20, 2011 12:24 PM

53 more widespread use and more suitable apps Jun 20, 2011 12:03 PM

54 greater access Jun 20, 2011 11:55 AM

55 It will continue to expand with the development of new technology. Jun 20, 2011 11:44 AM

56 More suitable apps Jun 20, 2011 11:35 AM

Page 4, Q22. What do you consider is the future of mobile learning in your institution/organization? (Responsesmay relate to, preparing mobile content, creating more suitable apps, providing users with mobile devices;greater access etc.)

57 Providing users with mobile devices, greater access, teacher training, time (forfinding appropriate apps, uses, etc.)

Jun 20, 2011 11:32 AM

58 I would like to see a push toward tablet use in high schools - I am planning to tryand gain access to tablets (ipad etc.) for my high school as I see these toolsbecoming very relevant in the future of education, work and personal life.

Jun 20, 2011 11:30 AM

59 We hope allow to access and use their mobile devices under the guidance of astaff member to enhance their education.

Jun 20, 2011 11:03 AM

60 We are planning to launch a pilot program of ipads in the fall with first graders Jun 20, 2011 7:56 AM

61 It's a coming tsunami... however, our Webcourses platform for university-levelonline courses does not work well with iPad or iPad2... the interface needs toimprove dramatically...

Jun 20, 2011 1:09 AM

62 I do not believe that true 'learning' will be achieved through any mobile device. Jun 19, 2011 10:18 PM

63 Preparing mobile content Jun 19, 2011 5:21 PM

64 Need to do much more to build the comfort and confidence of teachers toeffectively use these powerful tools.

Jun 19, 2011 10:52 AM

65 school becomes increasingly distributed online experience, less facility centricand more asynchronous. Online capability is much cheaper than new/expandedbuildings, and 9-12 (my area) is becoming 24X7 anywhere anytime study atindividual student pace.

Jun 19, 2011 10:39 AM

66 oral English practice Jun 19, 2011 10:35 AM

67 The future of mobile learning in our organization is key to its survival. Currentpercentage of mobile device used in teaching is 50% and expanding in terms ofproviding our participants with easy access to relevant information and efficientup to date follow ups base on individualized needs and wants through variousmodes of mobile devices. ie creating 'specific needs' focused apps, being aninstant resource avenue for participants globally, etc, as we write. Mobilelearning will be the primary source of teaching and training in the next 3 years ofthis organisation as it is the fastest and most effective way of getting the pointacross in this lightning paced generation.

Jun 19, 2011 10:30 AM

68 For ESL: allowing easy interviews/recording of native speakers - possibly withteacher in virtual attendance, geolocation tasks, esp. with RFIF tags, translationon the fly, remote class attendance

Jun 19, 2011 9:56 AM

69 Get over it - mobile Devices will become (if not already) ubiquitous - we need toincorporate them into learning and teaching

Jun 19, 2011 8:40 AM

70 We are currently looking into them for some of our students who need adaptivetechnology.

Jun 19, 2011 8:27 AM

71 Until we can guarantee 100% use by all students, they will be limited in scope. Jun 19, 2011 5:59 AM
