The Frozen Mukluk Local Monthly News from Faro, Yukon Vol. 8 Issue 2 FEBRUARY 2016
Quote of the Month;
'You become. It takes a long
time. That's why it doesn't
happen often to people who
break easily, or have sharp
edges, or who have to be
carefully kept. Generally, by
the time you are Real, most of
your hair has been loved off,
and your eyes drop out and
you get loose in the joints and
very shabby. But these things
don't matter at all, because
once you are Real you can't be
ugly, except to people who
don't understand.”
― Margery Williams, The Velveteen Rabbit

I would like to thank everyone for their support as I continue my "quest for the crown". The "Bones" for the float have
been transported to Whitehorse where It will be assembled. It is looking really good! Now all we need is bodies to put
on the float. I am looking for persons currently living in Faro who will be in Whitehorse on Sunday, February 28th that
can muster at 09:30 AM and ride the float. We have lots of outfits, thanks to June HAMPTON, so we just need the bodies.
The next option is ex Faroites that are now living in Whitehorse. If you are able to ride the float or know of someone who
could please call 867-332-3276 and leave a message if I don't answer.
I will be in Faro on February 9th and 10 selling tickets. Ticket sales are 30% of my mark. You can also purchase tickets at
the Town Office, as well as at the TD. Bank. Tickets are 2.00 each or 20.00 a book. Lotto licence 2015-146.
On the other 9th and 10th you will be able to find me at the Studio Hotel Restaurant for lunch at noon. Then on the 10th,
starting at 430 we have the Rendezvous Queen Kick off. A prince and princess contest, prizes for best outfits (adults too),
tug-o-war, snowshoe races, mad trapperish events!!!! Lots of fun for everyone. Also the grads will be running the Kiosk,
chilli, hamburgers and hotdogs.....great chance to come out and support the grad class!!!!!!! This will also be your last
chance to buy Rendezvous tickets!

MOTIVATED TO SELL
Welcome to our home! This house has been much more to our family than just 4 walls, and it holds many sweet sweet memories. We will mourn the loss of it, but if we know there is a family filling it up with more love it will make it so much easier. This house was built in 1981, and has never been unoccupied. Here are some highlights: Located in desirable upper bench, on a street with many families and almost no empty houses. VALENTINE RED VELVET SUGAR COOKIE BARS
WITH CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
Ingredients
• 3⅓ cups flour
• ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 cup butter, softened
• 1½ cups sugar
• 2 eggs
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 2 Tablespoons (one 1-ounce bottle) red food coloring
• Cream Cheese Frosting:
• 2 8 Oz cream cheese, softened
• ½ cup butter, softened
• 2 cups sifted powdered sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Have a 9x13 inch pan ready. I like to line
mine with aluminum foil and spray it with cooking spray so that the bars easily
lift out and are easy to cut.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder.
Set aside.
3. In a mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup butter softened and sugar until light
and creamy. About 2-3 minutes. Beat in the eggs, vanilla, and food coloring
until combined.
4. Add the flour mixture until a soft dough forms. Press into the bottom of the
9x13 inch pan. Bake for about 20 minutes until the edges start to pull away
from the sides and a toothpick entered into the center comes out clean. Allow
to completely cool before frosting.
5. To make the cream cheese frosting, Beat together the cream cheese and
butter. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat together until smooth. Frost the top of the bars and enjoy!
