Wine & Nine
Ladies Golf Association What a successful month May was. We had our first Wine and Nine event
and 38 Ladies came out to participate. We hope to have a few more of
these. Then, some of our favorite LGA Ladies, Susie Teitelbaum, Sharon
Rudesal, Debbie Thrush and Linda Pryor, put on a terrific Berries Jubilee,
with the help of a slew of LGA volunteers. An all-around, fantastic job by
the committee. In June, we will be playing the LGA/MGA Tradition. Look
for more details, coming in the future. So LET’S PAR TEE!!
Ladies 9 Hole Golfer

Summer time has arrived at the Tennis Club and we are ready for some fun in the sun!!! Whether you are an avid league player, high performance junior competitor, weekend warrior still learning the game, or a junior new to the sport, we have you covered with one of our summer programs. Along with our summer programming, we will continue to offer individual and group instruction from the best tennis staff in central Texas. Adults: If you are an avid league player, come out to one of our Open Ladies Drills on Tuesday mornings (Flight 7-4), or Thursday mornings (Flight 3-Champ). Men's Drills on Tuesday nights are open to all levels. Cardio Tennis is every Wednesday and provides a tennis workout to all level men, or women. Every Thursday nights we have our Powerball Social League open all ability levels. Saturday Morning Coed Open Drills are a great way to kick off the weekend too! Juniors: Our Summer Junior Camps are getting into full swing. Our Junior Academy and All Stars are gearing up for a summer of tough competition and and tournament play, while our Junior Recreational Sports Camp is filling the club with laughter and good times. If you would like any information on these groups, or would like to register, please stop by the pro shop today! All Players: Lawn Chair Tennis is taking over the Tennis Club!!! Our June versions will be on Saturday June 2nd and Friday June 15th. Come out and experience a truly laid back game of kinda tennis. Bring your own lawn chair! Also in June, we are hosting our largest tournament of the year, The Berry Creek Open (Prize Money Tournament) benefiting the Texas Advocacy Project. This is an Adult and Junior USTA Sanctioned tournament that offers prize money to all adult division winners. This tournament features a Men's Open singles draw with some very good players from all over the state. Even if you are not a player, you will want to come be a part of this event. For more information, or to become a sponsor of this tournament, please give me a shout at the tennis shop. As you can see, we are rocking over here in tennis!!! Please stop by and say hello!

A Message From the Board of Governors
Summer is here and your activities and more importantly, your opportunities for fun and comradery at Berry Creek are heating up too! Our swimming pool officially opens May 26th and we kick the swim season off with a pool party on Memorial Day.
The warm weather has improved our golf course's excellent condition, so far, we have hosted four major golf
tournaments and received outstanding comments from coaches and players for the condition and play-ability of the golf course. Thanks to all for helping us keep our course in good condition. Next up, the 20th Annual Berry Creek Cancer Tournament is scheduled for June 9th. Aside from offering fun and competition, the tournament is also proud to contribute over $ 60,000 to the Seton Medical Foundation.
Out on the tennis courts, with the benefit of our newly installed wind screens, The Berry Creek competitive tennis teams have done well. Mixed double season and summer camps for juniors are scheduled to start soon - drop by the Racquet Club to learn more.
Lots to do for our community means there is lots to coordinate behind the scenes; to that end, we would like to recognize the clubs and Members that have committed their time to help make Berry Creek even better. First is Berry Cares, our charitable club, Cynthia Ragsdale, our Membership Director, and many caring Members prepared and delivered 142 flower arrangements on Mother's Day to the Wesleyan Scenic Home. In addition, we would also like to recognize Wendy Dew for her plant work around the Clubhouse as well as changing the landscaping off the Women's Locker Room/Quarry area, where we now have a lovely porch space to enjoy. Last thanks to Denis
Poulos for his construction, placement and mapping of the stakes/markers for water hazards and out of bounds. I
encourage you to look at the Berry Creek website to find out the many ways to get involved in your club and help our community keep improving.
Since our last newsletter we welcomed our new Executive Chef Donnie to our Club and look forward to his personal touch on new menus and specials he'll be creating for our dining Members. With mix emotions, we
congratulate Robert Wenning on his promotion to Head Golf Professional at Thorn Tree Country Club in DeSoto, as Robert was an excellent teacher and consummate professional and we wish him well in his new position.
Construction projects are in the final stages of planning, to renovate our main dining room, bar area and foyer .A new beer draft system has been installed in the existing bar and in the new Shorty's Pub. More work is planned to relocate the pro shop and other clubhouse improvements, plus four tennis courts are scheduled to be
resurfaced late summer. Your BOG is working with our General Manager to prioritize much needed projects for our club; while all the necessary improvements can't be done in a year, we are tackling as many as possible and
looking forward to adding more.
In closing, I encourage you to participate in your Club as your involvement and perspective are very much
appreciated. The Club's goal is to provide GREAT Member experiences, but we can't do that without your help so get out there, have some fun and let us know how we are doing.
Thanks again for your membership and support of Berry Creek. Our motto is “Making a Great Club Better”.
