Novena Prayer for an end to the Coronavirus Pandemic
O Mary, full of grace, Patroness of this nation and Mother of the Church, in this time of illness and worldwide
need we seek your intercession for the human family before your Son’s throne of grace and mercy. We ask for
strength in adversity, health in weakness, and comfort in sorrow. Help us, O Blessed Mother, to be filled with
confidence and trust in the tender compassion of our God. Let us not be afraid, like our own Saint Marianne
Cope, who entrusted her life and ministry among the outcasts of society into the care of our Divine Physician.
Continue to watch over all who are sick as well as those who care for them and give wisdom to all who are
seeking a cure. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

THE CHURCH OF ST. MICHAEL & ST. PETER
The Fourth Sunday of Lent
From the Pastor’s desk.
The Fourth Sunday of Lent is traditionally known as
“Laetare Sunday.” Laetare means “rejoice.” It
sets a tone of joyful anticipation of Easter. We are
halfway there. However, it may be difficult to have
any sense of joy during this worldwide crisis.
As we hunker down, during this Corona Virus
outbreak, let us not forget the three disciplines of
LENT. As disciples of Jesus we are called to
Prayer, Fasting and Charitable works.
With our Masses and Church activities suspended,
consider that we are fasting from celebrating
together on Sunday and from the Holy Sacraments
given to us by Jesus. During this fast please find
the opportunity to pray at home alone or with your
family. Pick up a book of spiritual reading. Check
around your home for one of the “Matthew Kelly”
books you have not had the time to read. Continue
to use your Black Books and perhaps reintroduce
yourself and your family to the praying of the
rosary. Read your Bible. Watch Sunday Mass on
your computer or television.
When you are out shopping remember that others
are in need. Don’t overbuy and share your bounty
with your neighbors.
This time will teach us a great deal of what it means
to be a disciple of Christ. Now is the time to be
authentic Christian men and women. This is a time
that challenges us in so many ways. We are
challenged to give of our time, our resources, our
hopes and dreams, and even our lives. Be men and
women (and children) of genuine faith. Continue to
be faithful to your baptismal promises. Follow the
spirit of Jesus and give willingly, unsparingly,
unconditionally and joyfully.
“Lord Jesus, humble, obedient servant of the
Father, may we imitate your example of a faithful
servant. Be Jesus to each other. Be sources of
healing, hope, protection, sustenance, and life. Do
so in whatever way you can and by whatever means
you possess.”
MARCH 21-22, 2020
Saint Corona Yes, there is a St. Corona! Corona was only 16 and gave her life to comfort a fellow Christian, St. Victor. Right in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic is the city of Anzu, Italy. There is a basilica in Anzu where the relics of St. Victor and St. Corona have been preserved since the 9th century. The word Corona is Latin for crown, Ironically, St. Corona is considered as one of the patron saints of pandemics. St. Corona’s feast day, along with St. Victor’s, May 14. We ask both of them to pray for us all that this pandemic subsides. For more information on these Saints please go to https://aleteia.org/2020/03/14/yes-theres-actually-a-st-corona-and-shes-buried-in-the-middle-of-the-
pandemic/
FAITH FORMATION Bonnie Barker 315-469-6600 ext 103 FAITH SHARING: Before you and your family come to Mass next weekend look up the readings for March 29th, the Fifth Sunday of Lent: Ezekiel 37:12-14; Romans 8:8-11 and John 11:3-7,17,20-17,33b-45. When Mary and Martha’s brother, Lazarus, died, Jesus came to be with them. He cried with them and prayed with them. He then gave them a message of hope: “I am the resurrection and the life” and brought Lazarus back to life. Do you know someone who is lonely because a loved one has died? Call them and invite them to be with your family. NO CLASSES: Due to the corona virus we are suspending classes for Pre-K through grade 6 and will return on April 19 -20. CLASS LITURGY: March 29th our 5th and 6th grade liturgy is being cancelled. CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD: We are suspending this until further notice due to the corona virus. UPDATES will be given in this bulletin, by email, on the youth ministry website, on the parish website and/or by mail. If you have questions you can email Bonnie Barker at [email protected] as I will be in the office only one day a week.
