This hand­coloured engraving shows the newcommercial block which has dominated thestreetscape of the west end of our main street formore than 130 years. This was originally thelocation of the early home and store built about1808 for young   on property hepurchased from  l.

The old store was torn down and the Joneshomestead was moved to George St.  Years laterthe city tore down the Jones House when itopened the George St. parking lot a few yearsago.

The new block of stores with apartmentsabove was built in two sections which can beseen by observing the different cornice heights.
