President’s Message...
5
Dear Fellow Shooters and Guests,
On behalf of the Officers and Directors of the Ohio State Trapshooting Association, we wish to welcome you to the 134th Annual Ohio State Shoot. The goal of the O.S.T.A. and the staff of the Cardinal Shooting Center is to have the best target presenta-tion possible while utilizing the new shot curtain. To that end, Mr. Fishburn and the O.S.T.A. reached an agreement where all current traps were refurbished while placing a moratorium on the purchasing of new traps. The current traps will be maintained to reflect the best possible target presentation of any shooting facility in the country. This endeavor was undertaken to meet the expectations of the shooters, the O.S.T.A. and the Cardinal Shooting Center.
The State of Ohio, along with our entire world, has been greatly affected by the corona-virus. This catastrophic pandemic has led to financial hardships, illness and death. The sport of trapshooting has taken a backseat to the health and welfare of our shooters, visitors, employees and staff. With that in mind, the O.S.T.A. Board of Directors has been forced to make some very difficult decisions to ensure the health and safety of not only our shooters, but our member gun clubs as well. Going forward, let’s never forget about what happened in the Spring/Summer of 2020.
Remember to encourage a youth shooter to come and experience the Ohio State Shoot at its finest! Our golf cart and trailer fundraiser, gun give-a-ways and the daily 50/50 drawing are all returning for 2020. These programs are designed to generate college scholarship funds for our youth shooters. Please take advantage of all the raffle and drawing opportunities.
Come out to the 2020 Ohio State Tournament and make some new friends, reunite with old friends or simply enjoy the facility. We look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely, Timothy Hunsaker President OhiO state traPshOOting assOciatiOn

III. TROPHIES/SHOOTOFFS
TOTAL TROPHIES.................................................Over 700 Trophies and Awards
All ties in singles and doubles carry over to the next singles and doubles event unless otherwise noted. All other trophy ties will be shot off at the end of each day unless otherwise stated. If necessary, ties may be carried over to the next corresponding event, be shot off concurrently in succeeding events, or at a time designated by the Directors. Anyone in a tie who leaves the grounds or does not answer a call will forfeit his/her rights to shoot off. In the event that shooters are called for a shoot-off and then the shoot-off cannot be concluded (ex. time limitations, weather conditions), only those shooters who have checked in will be eligible for trophies. For any shoot-off that is not concluded, winners will be determined by long run from front, and ties will be determined by a coin flip performed by a tournament official.
CATEGORY SHOOTERS: At all tournaments where All American points will be awarded in any event, shooters may declare only one category (i.e. Lady I, Lady II, Sub-Junior, Junior, Junior Gold, Sub-Veteran, Veteran, or Senior Veteran) Note: Chair shooters are exempt from this rule.
Any shooter who is tied for event Champion may shoot-off/carry-over for the Championship trophy. If a shooter fails in the championship trophy shoot-off/carry-over and has declared a special category at the time of classification, the shooter can fall back to the declared category. Any shooter who has declared a special category at the time of classification and whose score qualifies for any trophy in his/her declared category, will compete for the category trophy and not for place, class or yardage group. Any special category shooter, whose score does not qualify for a trophy in his/her category, may compete for place, class or yardage group trophies.
Once any declarations have been made either by shooter or shoot management, the declaration is final and cannot be changed. There shall be no exception to this rule.
All Lady I, Lady II, Sub-Veteran, Veteran, Sr. Veteran, Junior Gold, Junior, Sub-Junior must declare their special category at the time of classification in any registered tournament if they wish to compete as a category shooter. Without such declaration, the contestant will not be allowed to compete for the applicable category trophy for the duration of the tournament. No contestant will be allowed to declare or change a special declaration after firing his/her first shot. There will be no exceptions to this rule. Failure to declare your classification does not constitute an A.T.A. classification error. Please check your classification receipt before leaving the classification desk.
All shootoffs will be announced and held at the discretion of the O.S.T.A. Board of Directors, and will cease at 10 p.m.
II. SQUADDING

LYNN PARSONS was born the son of legendary ex-hibition shooter, Herb Parsons, on December 23, 1942, in Somerville, Tennessee. He graduated valedictorian of his class in 1961 and graduated Cum Laude from Rhodes University, Memphis, Tennessee. In 1969, he graduated from the Tu-lane School of Medicine. Major Lynn Parsons served as Chief of Surgery and Chief of Hospital Services at the Air Force Hospital in Columbus, Mississippi. He was a surgeon in Mississippi, Ten-nessee, Kentucky and Ohio. Dr. Parsons worked at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine until his death on May 11, 2012.Lynn spent untold hours documenting the career and preserving the history of his father. He also

spent much time documenting and making DVD’s from recovered home 8mm films of many other exhibition shooters. He also served many years on the Nation-al Trapshooting Hall of Fame Committee. In his own right, Lynn was a very good shooter as shown in the Showman Shooter VHS tape he put together in 1984. He stepped out of the audience at age 12 and broke 5 hand-thrown clay targets with a model 12 shotgun before they hit the ground. He not only loved trapshooting, but also skeet, sporting clays, and bird hunting. Wherever he went, he was always promoting trapshooting. Dr. Parsons was a great ambassador for our sport.

ROSS WARREN was introduced to trapshooting by his father when he was 11 years old. He learned to set targets, pull and score to earn money for shooting. In 1970, he registered his first targets and became a very accomplished Junior com-petitor. During college in 1977-1978, he taught trapshooting at Ohio University and started their trapshooting club. After completing his education, Dr. Ross Warren returned to registered shooting to continue his devotion to the sport. Over the years, he has had much success winning championships at both the state and national level. In 1992, Dr. Warren earned 30 honorary yards in one season from the 27 yard-line. In 1993, he became the 10th Ohio shooter and the 141st

RANDY WILHELM used to accompany his father to the local gun club and watch him shoot all day, just waiting for his chance to shoot 10 or 20 tar-gets with his Model 12. When he was around sev-en, his father bought him a 20-gauge 1100 and that became his first trap and hunting gun. Randy registered his first targets in 1977 at age 11. He credits his entire trapshooting career to his father, his grandfather, and the late Ken Eyster.Randy has earned a position in over 20 All-Ohio Teams and won numerous Ohio State competi-tions and awards. He has Grand American wins as a Sub Junior as well as those earned in the 80’s, 90’s and 2005-2013. The win that means the most to him, is the HOA he won in Las Vegas at the

MISS and OUT
The Ohio Youth Championship is designed to provide an additional Youth State Championship event in Singles, Handicap, Doubles and High All Around by using the existing ATA categories in conjunction with The OSTA Ohio State Shoot Championship events. These events will be scored by the normal scoring practices as set forth by the OSTA and the ATA rules and policies. We believe it is important to encourage our youth to participate in all aspects of trapshooting which includes all three disciplines.
