From the Principal Welcome to the new school year. Thank you to the many families and friends who came along to our meet the
teacher afternoon. We had a lovely BBQ and enjoyed getting to know our new families as well as catching up with
our families who returned for the 2018 school year.
Our students are all settling nicely into their new classes and the classrooms are starting look and feel like theirs. We
have welcomed a few new teachers to Bidwill this year. Here are the 2018 classes and teaching staff.
We have welcomed back Mrs Cutting to her DP Instructional Leader role and she is joined by Mrs Noppert, working
Monday to Wednesday in our part time DP Instructional Leader role.
Mrs Rowen continues in her Deputy Principal role.
Sadly this is my last term as Principal of Bidwill Public School; I have accepted a position as Director of Education-
al Leadership for the Bungarribee network of schools. I have a great team working across our school working to
support our fantastic students, making this a very hard decision to make. The process for filling the position has
commenced and once we are appointed a new principal I will introduce them to our community. Thank you for your
continuing support.

Date: 3 March Event name: Astronomy Night: Big Bangs in the Night Sky - the Explosive and Dynamic Universe Event details: Speaker – Dr Martin Bell Stars explode, black holes merge, galaxies collide, neutron stars pulse. The Universe is a ticking time bomb and it’s Dr Martin Bell's job work out where the next big-bang is going to come from. Hear about some of the latest research in time-domain astrophysics, in which we aim to detect and study dynamic and explosive objects in the Universe. Take a tour of the types of objects that can create Natures best firework displays, such as tidal disruption events, gamma ray bursts and relativistic jets from super massive black holes. Highlights will include a discussion of the recent discovery of a burst of radio waves following the cataclysmic death of two merging Neutron stars, which re-sulted in the detection of gravitational waves. Will also in-clude the recent discovery of an Earth like planet around our nearest star system Proxima Centauri, which is a fairly badly behaved “flare” star and may not be capable of sustaining human life. Includes presentation, short 3D movie, tour of the dome and viewing of the night sky through a range of telescopes (weather permitting). $18.00 Adult $12.00 Child/Concession $50.00 Family (2 adults + 2 children) Children under 3 years of age free.
