Two Golden Rules
for Teamwork:
Respect the other members.
Work toward reaching the
objectives of the Group.
•The IL State Budget is one of the worst in the
United States. CTBA projects 8 Billion
Deficit 7/1/15.
•Others say it could be 12 Billion by 2016.
•Illinois is last in the nation for state support
of schools, falling from 48% to 28%.
•Property taxes in IL among the highest in the
nation.
• Illinois has the second highest disparity
between rich and poor districts in the country.
•Tuition charges, which reflect the cost spent
per pupil, range from $5,507 to $28,045.
•The current IL State Budget has a built in
shortfall if the income tax is not expanded.
•Only 24 of 48 local referendums were
approved this November
• The pension issue is still the biggest
elephant in the room. No one knows the
impact it will have on local schools.
• Nationally, pension systems have
unfunded liabilities of 390 billion.
• For three years in a row State Aid has been
prorated at 89%.
• The only new funding opportunities in
place are the County Sales Facility Tax.
• There are 50,000 homeless kids in Illinois.
The State has not supported Homeless
Education since 2009.
• Quinn asked for $3million this year, and was
given 1. Not $1 million, one single dollar.

• Technology is changing faster than schools
can provide internet infrastructure.
of all Illinois public school
districts are, or will be, in deficit
spending by the end of this
fiscal year.
Ask a legislator, any legislator,
“What is the plan to get Illinois
on a stable financial footing.
To pay down the debt. To
balance revenue with
expenditure?”
Even though a better
educated populace would
bring in more taxes,
reduce expenses, create
jobs, and give people a
reason to move to IL.
In spite of overwhelming
evidence that investing
in education drives
financial, social, and
economic success...
It’s called...
An initiative of the IL Statewide School Management
Alliance organizations (IASA, IPA, IASB, IASBO) and the IL
Association of Regional Supts., with input from thousands
of educators.
1. Support Vision 20/20
•Ask every legislator for their Plan.
No, Demand one.
• Tell them: No Plan - No Vote.
•Demand that Education become the
Priority, not the Scapegoat.
5.Share with everyone the benefits of
a stronger educational system.
• STOP TAKING IT.
• DO SOMETHING.
