Highly advanced digitaltechnology (DECT) ensures

Make internal and external calls at the same time
With the maximum of fivehandsets registered to the
base station, your Synergy system letsyou use all of them together. Onehandset can be making an external callwhile the other four handsets are beingused to make separate internal calls.
Up to five handsets work from one base
You can make internal callsbetween handsets, transfer
an external caller to another handsetand hold three way calls between twohandsets and an external caller.
20 name and number directory
Store up to 20 of your mostimportant or frequently
dialled names and numbers in thephonebook. It’s then easy to displayand dial numbers in the phonebook.Each handset has an individualdirectory.
Excellent handset range
Under ideal conditions youcan use your Synergy 2100
handset at up to 300 metres from the base station outside, or up to 50 metres inside.

Handsfree via handset
This function lets you keepyour hands free, for example,
to take notes. It also enables others in the same room to hear and join inthe call.
Handset ringer priority
If you are using more than onehandset on your base station, you canselect one handset to ring before allthe others. You can then set thenumber of rings it will make before theother handsets start ringing.

available from BT Shops and theSynergy Helpline 0845 602 1041.
Do not try to use any other powersupply except the one provided,otherwise you may permanentlydamage your Synergy 2100. It may alsoinvalidate approval of this apparatus.To get a replacement Synergy 2100charging cradle power supply unit –Item Code 872040 – contact theSynergy Helpline 0845 602 1041.
There is a slight chance yourphone could be damaged byan electrical storm. We
recommend that you unplug yourSynergy 2100 from the mains powerand telephone socket during storms.
The Synergy 2100 willproduce a certain amount ofheat during operation. Equally,
the handset as well as any additionalchargers you purchase can also becomewarm during charging. We adviseagainst placing these products onantique, veneered or wooden surfacesas damage may occur.
Do not use the Synergy 2100in damp, humid conditionssuch as bathrooms. Do not
expose the equipment or batteries tofire and water.
Do not dispose of usedbatteries with generalhousehold rubbish and do not
burn them.
Do not use the handsets inplaces where there areexplosive hazards.
If you wear a hearing aid,please note that the Synergy2100 works by sending radio
signals between the base station andhandset. These signals can interferewith hearing aids, causing a hummingnoise.
Synergy 2100 can interfere with otherelectrical equipment, e.g. answeringmachines, TV and radio sets, clockradio/alarms and computers if placedtoo close. It is recommended that youplace your Synergy 2100 at least onemetre away from such appliances tominimise any risk of interference.

Setting upFollow these steps to set up your Synergy 2100 handset andcharger ready for use.
Please noteThe Synergy 2100 has a range of
up to 300 metres outdoors and up to 50 metres indoors. It is possible that the range may be affected by being near water (e.g. large ponds, lakes and the sea) as well as large metal
objects (e.g. radiators, metal partitionwalls and steel girders).
The Synergy 2100 uses a nickel metalhydride (NiMH) battery pack supplied.Take care to connect the battery asshown and replace the battery cover.

3Charge the handset batteryfor at least 16 hours
Before you use your Synergy 2100 forthe first time, it is important to havethe handset battery fully charged. We recommend that you leave theSynergy 2100 on charge for at least 16 hours.
Place the handset on the chargingcradle, when charging, the batterylevel symbol is shown. It flashesduring charging. Once the handset isfully charged, the display shows a fullbattery symbol.

Battery levels
Battery low warning.If the handset battery symbol isempty and flashing, and you hear awarning beep every 10 seconds, youwill need to recharge your handsetbefore you can use it.
Battery performance
After charging your Synergy 2100handset for the first time, subsequentcharging time for the battery isapproximately 4-5 hours. Battery andcase may become warm duringcharging. This is normal and notdangerous.
Under ideal conditions, the handsetbattery should give about 12 hourstalktime (7 hours in handsfree mode)or 150 hours standby on a singlecharge.
Please note, however, that a newNiMH battery does not reach its fullcapacity until it has been in normaluse for several days.
Please note that while the NiMHrechargeable battery can be expectedto give years of service they do notlast forever.
Their actual lifespan depends on how heavily they are used but overtime, their capacity to recharge willbegin to diminish and they willeventually need replacing.

Registering a new Synergy 2100 handset with the base station
It is essential that you register yourhandset with your Synergy base stationfor it to work.
This and each further additionalhandset you purchase must beregistered at the base station in orderfor them to work.
As well as your original handset, youcan register up to a further 4 additionalhandsets to your Synergy 2120 or 2150base station.
The system allows internal callsbetween the handsets while a third ismaking an external call.
The instructions in this section are forregistering an additional Synergy 2100handset with one base station. If youhave a system with more than one basestation, please follow the procedure inthe section “Operating with additionalbase stations” in your main Synergybase station user guide.
If you have a Synergy 2120 or Synergy 2150, it comes supplied withone handset which is automaticallyregistered as handset number one.
Please noteWhen switched on, a new additional
handset will display Not SUB. This tells you that the handset is not yet registered with the base station.
5To register your new handsetto the base station
At the base station:Press the PAGE button andhold for at least 10 seconds,until you hear the validationtone, then release the button.
The In Use LED on the basewill flash repeatedly. Youmust register the handset inthe next 10 minutes.
At the handset:
Until the display flashesRegistration.
Press to display the availablebase station names BASE 1-4.
If your handset is already registered to another base then the display shows *next to the base name.

Maintenance
Simply clean your Synergy 2100 with adamp cloth (not wet) or an antistaticwipe. Never use a dry cloth as thismay cause a static shock. Pack the unit securely, preferably in
the original packaging. All parts mustbe returned including the mains poweradaptor. We cannot take responsibilityfor goods damaged in transit.Within guarantee
If you experience a problem with yourSynergy 2100 you should contact theSynergy Helpline on 0845 602 1041.Calls are charged at local call rates. If the problem is not remedied, you willbe advised to contact your originalpoint of purchase.
Some retailers offer extended warrantyschemes for cover outside the initial12-month period. Please ask them fordetails.

Emergency callsThe emergency services can be
contacted in the UK by dialling 999or 112 which is valid in any country
that is a member of the Europeancommunity.
Please noteIf your Synergy 2100 is connected to a switchboard/PBX, you may have
to dial an access number before 999 tocontact the emergency services. Someswitchboards cannot dial out during
a power failure.
The Synergy 2100 will not work when the power fails. Alternativearrangements should be made for
access to emergency services.
Spare batteries (Item Code 871996)are available from BT Shops or contactthe Synergy Helpline 0845 602 1041.
Do not immerse batteries in water orthrow them into a fire, or dispose ofthem with ordinary domestic refuse.
BT accepts no responsibility for damagecaused to your Synergy handset byusing any other type of battery.
No display appearsThe battery may be flat or dead.Recharge or replace the battery.
No dial toneIs the telephone line cord plugged intothe phone socket?
Check that the base station is connectedto the mains power and switched on.

Are you in range of the base station?
Replacing the handset batteryAfter a time, you may find that thehandset battery is running out ofcharge more quickly. This is a standardsign of wear and the battery will needreplacing.

Buzzing noise on my radio, TV,computer or hearing aidSometimes, your Synergy 2100 caninterfere with other electricalequipment if it is placed too close.
It is recommended that you place yourSynergy base station and otherSynergy handsets at least one metreaway from such appliances to avoidany risk of interference.
The charging cradle does not appear tobe workingCheck that:• the power adaptor is properly

Technical information
EnvironmentYour Synergy 2100 should be kept free ofdust, moisture, high temperature, vibrationand should not be exposed to directsunlight. Do not stand it on carpets or othersurfaces which generate fibres or place itin locations which prevent the free flow ofair over its surfaces.
If the power fails Alternative arrangements should be madefor access to emergency services.
How many phones can you have?All items of telephone equipment have aRinger Equivalence Number (REN), whichis used to calculate the number of itemswhich may be connected to any onetelephone line. The Synergy 2100 has aREN of 1. Any other instrument providedby BT may be assumed to have a REN of 1unless otherwise stated. A total REN of 4 is allowed.
Connection to the BT telephone networkSynergy 2100 is fully approved forconnection to the BT network provided it is used according to the instructions in thisguide. The telephone lines must provideMulti-frequency (Touch Tone) diallingcapabilities.
It may be connected to Direct ExchangeLines and switchboards (PBXs) with newplan (plug and socket) arrangements.
Connecting to switchboardsSynergy 2100 is only approved for use witha compatible switchboard including thosewhich do not provide secondary proceedindication.
If you would like a list of suitableswitchboards, contact BT on 154.
If you do not have a compatible switchboard,it cannot be guaranteed that the productwill operate correctly under all possibleconditions of connection. If you have anydifficulties, contact BT on 154.
Generally, Synergy 2100 can be connectedto any switchboard where a simple moderntelephone can be used to make and receivecalls. Synergy 2100 is suitable forconnection to switchboards which returnsecondary proceed indication.
WarningThe apparatus is designed to be
operated in a normal office or domesticenvironment where the relativehumidity does not exceed 75%.
It should not be used in bathrooms or near water.

If wall mounting your Synergy 2100,use this guide for position.
• Make sure that you are not drillinginto any hidden wiring and checkthat the power cable will reach fromthe mains socket to the charging cradle.Switch the power adaptor off at themains and remove the adaptor plugfrom its socket.
• Drill two holes 25mm deep using a3mm drill, 24mm apart to take thewall plugs.
• Put wall plugs into the drill holesand then insert both screws. Leave2-3mm between the head of the screwand the wall. You are now able tomount the charging cradle.
• Fit the charger onto the two screws.If necessary, tighten or loosen thescrews for the best fit.
• Put the handset back in the charging cradle and switch the power back on at the wall socket.
