Sunday’s Fall Kickoff
Sunday marked the first day of
our week of Fall Kickoff! Children
and Youth Ministries returned in
full force.
We were also fortunate to have a
Baptism at the 8:30 a.m. Service of
LillyAnn Pauline Deakins.
We hope to see you Wednesday
evening at the Community Meal from
5-6 p.m., followed by Kid Crew
Plus+, Youth Crew and Small Groups
from 6-7:30 p.m. as we wrap up our
Fall Kickoff.
“Our mission is to make new disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
Orange Curriculum for K-5
The performers trust that the wire will stay tight,
their legs will stay strong, and their toes won’t let go.
And the audience trusts that the performer will
expertly complete their routine and not give anyone
the opportunity to explain, “that’s why we don’t have
a high wire in our backyard.”
Whether on the high wire or in life, trust is
important. If we don’t trust, we might miss the
opportunity to watch God show up and do what only
He can do. Throughout the Bible we see different
people who have put their trust in God in the midst
of some unbelievable circumstances. Putting our
trust in God and the people He’s put in our lives isn’t
always easy. That’s why we’re taking the month of
August to see what God says about trust.
We define trust like this: putting your confidence in
someone you can depend on.
So each week this month, we’ll take a closer look at
Joseph’s life and discover something about how we
can trust God and the people He’s put in our lives.
For Week One that begins this Sunday, when you
think you’re alone, you can trust God is with you.
Kids may have time when they feel like no one is
with them or on their side. Although they feel that
way, someone is looking out for them. We pray that
kids come to realize that God is always with them.
Our Playing was a Success
Last Wednesday, August 10th, was a busy night at
North Cross. North Cross staff served Walking
Tacos before our guests went outside to hit the
Wet N Wild event hosted by Family Ministry!
After everyone was sufficiently cooled off, they
could visit the S’mores Club for some ooey-gooey
goodness! We had over 70 people join us for our
evening of playing.
The Bible and Me Study
Have you ever had trouble reading the bible and
hearing God speak to you? Have you stopped
reading the Bible or perhaps you never really have
read it on a daily basis?
If you find yourself responding positive to any of
these questions we have a Bible Study for
you. Bible Journaling will be a fun and creative way
to study the bible in a personal way. Our resource
will be the Upper Room and we will encourage
participants to respond to the referred bible passages
by journaling their thoughts on paper; or participants
will be encouraged to doodle and draw their image
that God’s word inspires in them.
This 5-week study on Monday nights will begin
September 12th from 6:30-8 p.m, in Room
200. Please bring your Bible and a current issue of
the Upper Room if you have one. RSVP on North
Cross Connect or email [email protected].
Covenant Study
Join us for a 24 week (three, eight-week sessions)
exploration of the Old and New Testament idea of
what it means to create, live and trust our covenantal
relationship with God and others.
To view a promotional video of this study click here.
This study will have an introductory meet up on
Wednesday, August 31st from 6-7:30 p.m., in Room
215. The class will officially begin on Wednesday,
September 7th. Childcare is available through the
Kid Crew Plus+ ministry. RSVP on North Cross
Connect.
Wednesday Women’s Fellowship
The Wednesday Women’s Fellowship Group invites you
to join them in their study of Giddy up, Eunice. It’s easy
for women to focus on what seems to separate us:
differences in age, parenting styles and career goals.
Scripture shows us the blessing of friendships across
generations. It’s high time we step out of our same-age,
same-stage silos. Life is so much better that way.
All are welcome to join the Wednesday Women’s
Fellowship Group on Wednesday’s from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
in Room 202. Be a part of Real Men’s Ministry
Real Men is a two-fold group. Beginning with a Bible
study then focusing on real life topics that affect men as
husbands, father, boyfriends and work related topics.
Drawing on “guy” movies, Rough Cut Men, allows men
to wrestle with the faith questions men face today. Then
afterwards, just a time to hang out and have a good time
together. If you are interested in joining this group, sign
up on North Cross Connect or email
Dinner for 8
If you are looking for a great way to meet people, get
connected and enjoy food and fellowship then Dinner
for 8 is for you! A launch event with more information
will be held on Sunday, August 28th at 10 a.m., in
Room 207. The next 4-month session will begin in
October.
Chapel Prayer Team
If your passion is prayer, then join our Chapel Prayer
Team. They meet on Wednesday’s at 6 p.m. in the
Chapel to pray over our prayer lists and prayer requests.
Preschool Refresh Project
In anticipation of the new Preschool year, we are
refreshing our Preschool Wing. We are looking

taping the rooms, and covering floors in

Cross Connect or contact Vickie Linch
