S1-Global• Goal
– Establish 31.5MV/m in average– Demonstrate plug-compatibility
• An important item in TDP1(though cannot be completed by July 2010)
• Structure– Module C
• cryostat from INFN• cavities: 2 from FNAL, 2 from DESY
– Module A• cryostat: same as STF1 module A• cavities: 4 from KEK (existing 4 cavities will be replaced)

量子ビーム( Ryoushi Biimu, Quantum Beam ) Project• A new budget framework of MEXT/JST
– For beam technology innovation ready for realization– Industries must be involved– 5 year plan. Max. 5 OkuYen per year
• We proposed a project “High-Intensity Compact X-ray Source” which includes – RF gun– Laser-Compton scattering– SC acceleration
• And were accepted. (Almost guaranteed every year till JFY2012)• 4.5 OkuYen for JFY2008 but this includes
– Overhead (23%)• But a good news is that we can employ staffs for 5 years by using this overh
ead • Planning to add 4 persons for SC (e.g., 2 for cavity, 1 for cryomodule, 1 for c
ryogenics) – Budget for other fields such as ERL– Budget for participating universities

High-Intensity Compact X-ray Source
• Must be demonstrated by JFY2012• Includes 25 MV SC acceleration and deceleration (but perhaps,
deceleration can be omitted) • Beam current (9mA) and pulse length (1ms) same as ILC, but bunch
distance factor of ~50 smaller

• Better to combine with STF2 for saving manpower and money– Build QB in STF tunnel– Identify 25MV acceleration cavity = STF capture cavity, though QB does
not need 2 cavities– Can share the RF gun (but not the laser --- different pulse structure)
• But the price is the schedule delay– Interruption for at least half a year, likely ~1 year
(installation of QB beamline and tuning for X-ray)– To minimize the delay, plan to finish QB before 2012 summer vacation.

STF2• ILC 1 RF Unit + injector (RF gun, capture system)
• Establish the reliability of the system
• Big step to industrialization
• Detail under planning. Need one more month.
