PASTORAL LEADER’S NOTES REMINDER
If you have not returned your Stewardship of Sharing commitment sheets please bring them to church before Christmas. You can put them in the collection basket or the boxes at the church entrances. This is one important way for us to show that stewardship is a priority in our lives.
Remember stewardship involves changing our minds and hearts from “giving to a need”
to “having a need to give.”

David Brennand, one of our Winneconne parishioners, has been recovering from heart surgery at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee for the past three weeks. I went to visit him this week and I know it means a lot to him to know that people are still praying for him. Would you consider sending him a card to remind him of our thoughts and prayers? You can write him at: St. Luke’s Hospital 2900 W. Oklahoma Avenue Milwaukee, Wi 53215

150th Jubilee History Book In the main entrance of our churches you will find copies of history books of the Diocese of Green Bay. One is a coffee table book, which includes a page for each parish of the diocese. There is also a graphic novel, in both hard and soft cover, which gives a wonderful history of the Catholic faith in northeastern Wisconsin. Both of these books would make a great Christmas gift for anyone who has lived in our diocese or is interested in the history of the Catholic Church of Green Bay.
The purchase price for these books are: 150th Jubilee History Book—$35.00 Hardcover graphic novel—$20.00 Softcover graphic novel—$15.00
All of these books can be purchased before or after Mass in both Omro or Winneconne. You can also stop in the church office during the week to purchase them anytime between now and Christmas.
Sr. Pam
Dear Parishioners,
Last week we received the annual Christmas letter from Fr. Tom Charters, the pastor of our sister parish in Erwin, TN. I thought you’d be interested in hearing the latest “news” from St. Michael’s. Here’s a part of Fr. Tom’s letter:
“Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
The Mission continues to grow and we are ready to build a multipurpose building. We have sent plans to the bishop for a 5000 sq. ft. building. It will have a large area for Mass and parish celebrations. There will be a curtain between the hall area and the altar area. That will enable us to close off the sanctuary and keep the Blessed Sacrament there…
It will put us in debt and give us a tight budget but it will be worth having our own place. I dream of putting a trailer or a modular home on the property so I can live there. But that may have to wait for some time…
We had 3 children baptized and others are planned before the end of the year. We had 9 First Communions and 15 Confirmations. We will receive two adults into the church in the next few weeks…
My Wednesday Mass during the summer was celebrated at the Jones Farm for the farm workers from Mexico. When I celebrate Mass there it is like being at the stable in Bethlehem. Instead of a stable there is a small opened slatted shed that once kept a tractor dry. Instead of shepherds there are Mexican farm laborers. Instead of a crèche for the Christ to lay in, there is a simple table where Christ comes to us in the Eucharist… I have celebrated Mass in different cathedrals but celebrating Mass with the farm workers in that small shed is the most spiritual and beautiful of Masses for me…
Thanks to Kathy O’Brien’s work here in Religious Education children go home and ask throughout the week, “Is it time to go to Church?” That catechetical program has really caught the attention of the children. I wish you all a wonderful year. Please keep us in
your prayers. God bless you.” Fr. Tom

Ponder & Pray
Today’s Gospel Reading – Mark 1:1-8 The readings leading up to the birth of Jesus are full great images and words to reflect on. Listen to or read this week’s gospel. Don’t you just love the wild images of John dressing in camel hair and eating locusts and honey? He was different, that is for sure! Have you ever noticed anyone-at school, in your social circles, or in your neighborhood – who is different? Maybe they are left out because of these differences. But they, too, have a gift to share. John had enough confidence in himself to let his ego dissolve and show us that the message of God reigns over everything else. He knew his role to prepare the way for Jesus Christ. How might you, in word or deed, be inclusive? How might you teach others about Jesus Christ? Spend time in prayer this week pondering this reading and these thought provoking questions.
Important message for

CAM helping victims of Hurricane Harvey in Houston
Residents of Houston are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey and CAM wants to help! CAM is collecting socks and underwear, for males and females, all sizes, to send to Catholic Charities of the Greater Houston area to help those people in need of these very basic necessities. Please donate new socks and underwear in the donation boxes located at all church entrances on the weekends of Dec. 9 & 10, and ending Dec. 16 & 17.
