FIRST COMMUNION WEEKEND Congratulations to the young people who are celebrating their First Holy Communion this weekend! I would also like to extend a warm welcome to visitors who are here to witness these celebrations this weekend. Thank you in a special way to Fr. Don, Deacon Bruno and all the catechists who have prepared the children led by Elaine Low, Maggie Rader, Angela Ensminger and Sr. Hur who worked with the Korean speaking community.
As their faith community, let us all be role models for the children receiving First Communion today. They have taken an important step in their journey of faith. It is up to us to show them the way by living out the disciples call to act on our faith, to show care and compassion to all and to always look for ways to be in relationship with our Father.
Annual Catholic Appeal Please join me now in support of the Catholic Church in Western Washington by giving to the 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal Campaign! The support of every parish is crucial to the success of the Archdiocese and its many ministries and services. We have an archdiocesan assessed goal of $ 111,354 for our share of this year’s campaign. We are asking that EVERYONE support the Appeal this year in some way. YOUR participation is vital to our success as a parish - We are counting on you to help us achieve our goal.
Please be sure to return your ACA envelopes in the collections baskets at Mass or mail them to the parish office or directly to the Chancery offices. You can also pledge online: www.seattlearchdiocese.org/Stewardship/ACA/Donate.

5th Sunday of Easter
Theme: Jesus commands us to love one another
Question for Children: How do you make obvious that you love your family and friends?
Question for Youth: The world is full of examples of people who don’t love others. What are the results of hate that you see in the world? How would the world be different if we followed Jesus’ commandment?
Question for Adults: Jesus’ commandment to love another is a challenge. What will you do this week to deepen the love you have for those around you in life?
General Intercession for the parish: Let us pray in thanksgiving for the gift of God’s love and the powerful presence of the Ris-en Christ in our lives!

REFUGEE OUTREACH MINISTRY [email protected]
At our May 9 meeting we decided to try to set up our next refugee apartment in June. Information on needed items will go out in early June with items collected at Sunday morning masses June 23. With many parishioners down-sizing, we have frequent offers of used household items. There are many limitations on our ability to accept these items. We cannot accept furniture – we don’t have the ability to pick it up or store it; the IRC furnishes these items. Smaller household items like TV’s, tableware or kitchenware must be complete and in “like new” condition. The refugee section of the parish website has more detailed instructions. If you have other questions about items you want to donate, please email us.
The parish bulletin has information on the Immigration Summit on June 8. Please visit the refugee section of the parish website to learn more about this ministry and ways to get involved. For information on upcoming events ask to be added to our mailing list at [email protected] or contact Ken Ramsey at 425-746-3463.
