(September meeting has changed to 3rd
week, 9/16)
Brothers and Sisters of St. Luke,
Beginning in September, St. Luke will begin “Seasons
of Discovery”. This program will facilitate an ongoing
dialogue that will lead us to discover God’s unique
vision and purpose for our church. Throughout the next
two years, we will move through 4 seasons of discovery
(two seasons a year). The “Season of Preparation” will
begin on September 17th in worship. To truly
discovery God’s plan for us, it is important that the
members of the congregation engage the process.
Beyond worship, one of the greatest ways you can
participate is by attending the bible studies. We are
offering many different times throughout the week in
hopes that we might meet your availability. We are
asking however that you sign-up in the Narthex, so that
we can have some idea for planning purposes. As we
move through our discovery – there will be additional
ways for everyone to embrace, support and accomplish
our vision. I want to thank you in advance for your
prayers and support during this most exciting time.
In Christ, Pastor Minnix
Please pick a time that works for you and sign up on the
bulletin board in the narthex

Calling All Young Adults! Come join our life
group, as we meet together for fellowship, service
and Bible study activities. We attend "The
Gathering" on Thursday nights at 7:30pm and then
engage in fellowship at 9:00pm every week. We
gather together to provide a comfortable faith-
centered environment, where conversations and the
formation of friendships can occur. Contact Jackie
Flynn at [email protected] for more
information about our Young Adult Ministry and
for upcoming events.
A Note from Pastor’s Desk... You may have noticed that over the past couple of years we have been transitioning our candles from wax to liquid. We give thanks for those who have supported these efforts. We also give thanks for all those who serve on the altar guild – preparing and maintaining all of our worship furnishings and elements. To assist and better support them, we ask that the altar guild responsibilities be left to the coordination of Donna Daly and those who assist her weekly. Specifically, we ask that the new liquid candles and their wicks not be serviced or tampered with. While we recognize there are some who only wish to lend a helping hand, these wicks are not to be trimmed at any time. http://www.almy.com/UI/Hotspots/Docs/quickwicks.pdf

Sharing the Joy Update!
The goal is to raise $100,000.00 by December 2017. What’s it for? To repair, maintain and update the aging portions of our facilities As the needs became known, St. Luke was blessed with a very generous anonymous donation from a
member of the congregation. We lift this offering up to God that it might be used for His purposes and for
His Kingdom. Having been reminded that the Lord has called us to share the burdens, we also lift this
offering up that it might now be multiplied. We ask that you prayerfully consider committing yourself to
an offering – above and beyond your present giving – to be given over the next 18 months (ending in
December 2017). Based on the needs we face, our goal is to receive $100,000 toward this appeal by that
time. We encourage those who are able, to consider meeting their commitment in a one-time, or two-time
gift offering(s) in order to support some of the priority projects we can’t delay.
Some Projects 1. Heating solution for the church office building (we presently do not have a functioning heating
system for the church offices)
2. New roof on 16 Candlewood Path
3. Refinish floors at 16 Candlewood Path
4. Heating system at 16 Candlewood Path
5. Repair/replace retaining wall at 20 Candlewood Path (parsonage)
6. Parking Lot (striping and sealing)
7. Clearing and repairing drainage lines throughout the campus
8. Tree removal and clearing
9. Painting and replacing siding around the church (as many sections as possible)
10. Repair/replace concrete steps leading to the courtyard.
11. Repair church roof/skylights
The initial appeal began in Mid-August 2016
Sharing the Joy gifts received to date: $10,193.30

Mid-Week Stewardship Thought
A Giving Heart Christian giving comes more from the heart than it does from the
pocketbook. Giving is more a spiritual decision than a financial
decision. Through faith, we understand that God is the source of all
good things. “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the
world, and all who live in it” (Psalm 24:1). He has blessed us with
our physical lives and with our spiritual lives that go on forever with
Him. Through our giving, our actions express our gratitude by
saying, “Thank You, thank you, dear God.” Our faithful giving
honors and worships the Lord.
Prayer: Good and gracious heavenly Father, You are the creator and source of all things. You give
so generously to me. Your love for me compelled You to give me and all people the most
indescribable gift, the gift of Your Son. Grant me a thankful and generous heart so that my giving
will properly show my gratitude for Who You are and all that You’ve done for me. In Jesus’ name I
pray. Amen.
Blessings on your Stewardship Journey!
