St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Dear Parish Family, What an exciting time to be a part of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. Over this past year, I have been both humbled and honored to be a part of this Community of Faith. Thanks to your generosity of time, talent, and treasure we continue to grow and thrive. This parish is a shining example of how people come together to meet the needs of one another. I have heard repeatedly how much St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish is, in reality, a family. I can now attest to the truth of that statement. The ability to see each other as a brother or sister in Christ is not always easy. However, I have witnessed many times how we come together for the good of all. I have seen it written “that it takes a village”. By virtue of our Baptism, we all have a duty and a responsibility to build up and strengthen the Body of Christ within these walls and throughout our community. It will take all of us working together to do what we can, in the measure we can, to keep reflecting the light and the love of Christ. The Church is made up of living stones – and we are the stones. You may have been a part of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton from the very beginning. You may be new to this community of faith. Regardless, all of us are needed; all of us are important, and all of us have some-thing to offer. In your hands, you hold the 2018-2019 Stewardship Guidebook and Directory. This direc-tory contains vital information about this community’s many ministries and activities. Also included in this directory are the annual calendar of events, parish staff contact infor-mation, and a directory of parishioners. This directory is made possible by the generous support of our advertisers. Please consider making good use of their goods and services. It is a great way to show our gratitude to them. I thank you for your continued support, prayers, and generosity. May God bless you abun-dantly for all that you have done and for all that you will continue to do – now and always. Peace, Fr. Danny Schwendeman Pastor

STEWARDSHIP PRAYER

Creator God,

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish is composed of people like me.

I help make it what it is.

It will be friendly, if I am friendly.

Its seats will be filled, if I help fill them.

It will do great work, if I work.

It will make generous gifts to many causes, if I am a generous giver.

It will bring other people into its worship and fellowship,

if I invite and bring them.

It will be a community of loyalty and love,

of fearlessness and faith,

and a church with a noble spirit,

if I, who make it what it is, am filled with these same things.

Therefore, with the help of God, I shall dedicate myself to the task

of being all the things that I want my church to be.

Amen.

OUR PARISH HISTORY St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish celebrated its first masses on September 13-14, 1980 in a storefront in Gainesway. The Parish was a vision of Bishop Ackerman, with a formal proclamation by Bishop Hughes. Our first pastor, Monsignor John Rolf, had a post-Vatican II vision for the parish. He stressed lay involvement with the goal of building a “church” community before erecting a building called church. As the community grew, greater emphasis was placed on the Eucharist, education and families ministering and serving together. It was only fitting that the first American-born, newly canonized saint, Elizabeth Ann Seton, become our patroness, as her life embodied those realities. Community and faith building activities continued for five years before the move to our present Church facilities. Following the move to our current location, Parish membership, as well as new pro-grams and ministries, grew quickly. In August 1989, we opened a preschool, answering a community need and foreshadowing things in God’s plan. We said farewell to Fr. Rolf in June 1993. Our second pastor, Fr. Wil Fraenzle, focused us on completing the building phases and paying off our debt. By 2000, we had accom-plished that goal as a consequence of Fr. Wil’s other focus, continuing to build church as community. He employed Sr. Eileen Golby as pastoral associate with the charge of bringing CRHP (Christ Renews His Parish) to enrich and build upon the community spirit in the parish. The diocesan United In Faith campaign accelerated the dream of a parish elementary school. Seton Catholic School opened its doors in August 2005. The school has been a catalyst for more growth and development of the parish. Seton Catholic School was named a 2012 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence as an exemplary high performing school, ranking it among the highest achieving schools in the nation. The vision of our third pastor, Fr. John Moriarty, led us to an emphasis on biblical stewardship as a way of life. An increase in stewardship of prayer, ministry and finance has brought us to the brink of an exciting new phase in the parish development. We dream of new facilities to act as a hub of activity for youth and adults alike, further fos-tering the growth of the parish. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish continues to honor its rich history as it strives to ensure that our Catholic faith grows with our community with our current pastor, Fr. Danny Schwendeman.
