KNOW YOUR STUFF !

• The needs of your audience

• Your material

• Order of the speech

PERCEPTION IS KEY

• Dress appropriately

• Look confident

• Remain calm & relaxed

• Speak SLOWLY

• Enunciate

• Show appropriate emotion– “Walt’s Dead”

• Use inflection

• Don’t lean, sway, or tap

• Move, walk around the room when appropriate

• Make eye contact with your audience!

• Don’t stare at teacher, the presentation, the floor or ceiling

BODY LANGUAGE

SPEAK WITH CONVICTION

• Know when to stop talking

• Don’t mumble

• If you made an error, correct it

• No “ums, uhs, like”

• Be confident

• Hove a logical progression

• Don’t say, “That’s It!”
