• social network computer-mediated communication were made in many early online services, including Usenet, ARPANET, LISTSERV and bulletin board services (BBS).
• The early social networking on the World Wide Web began in the form of generalized online communities such as Theglobe.com (1995), Geo cites (1994) and Tripod.com (1995).
MAIN PURPOSE
• The main purpose of these early communities was to focus on bringing people together to interact with each other through chat rooms and encouraged users to share personal information and ideas via personal webpages by providing easy to use publishing tools and free or inexpensive web space. The class mates communicate via email addresses.

• The user profile became a central feature of social networking sites in the late 1990’s.It allows users to compile a list of “Friends” and search for other users with similar interests.
• New social networking methods were developed by the end of 1990s.At this time, many sites began to develop more advanced features for the users to find and manage the friends.

• Johanna Corn blatt explains in a Newsweek article that social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace may provide people with a false sense of connection that ultimately increases loneliness in people who feel alone.

• The more time the students spend on these social media sites, the less time they will spend socializing in person with others. . They will not be able to communicate and socialize effectively in person with others. The employers are getting more and more unsatisfied with the communication skills of the fresh graduates due to this reason.
Reduces command over language and creative writing skills
• Students mostly use slang words or shortened forms of words on social networking sites. They start relying on the computer grammar and spelling check features. When they are much involved in these social networking they usually lose their command over language and they usually fall in the problem of lack of confidence and besides losing their language skills they also become non-creative and their capabilities of innovation thinking become low.
Time wastage• The most use of social media causes the wastage of
time. Although this social media has very advantages but we can say that this has also many disadvantages. Students, while searching and studying online, get attracted to using social media sites and sometimes they forget why they are using internet they use unconsciously which leads to waste their time.
Low grades• In this modern age children are much aware of these
social media items from their childhood and they spend their most time in using these network which cause many disadvantages in their future life. They may also suffer some psychological problems when they get low grades I their academic activities Students get low grades in school due to lack of the desired information, lack of creative thinking and writing skills.
Loss of motivation in students:• When a person use these social networking they
think that it is their life in enjoying the social networking while in real sense it is not so. The just rely on some theoretical working and when they come out in their practical life they are less effected than a person who is mare practical worker this reduces the motivation of those students.
Effect on health:
• The excessive use of these sites affects the mental as well as physical health. When people use these social networking they adjacent to it unconsciously. Health can be maintained by proper food and proper sleeping but unfortunately students do not care for their health and in the result they got addicted in many psychological disorders and in this sense students do not take their meals on time and take proper rest. They take excessive amount of coffee or tea to remain active and focused which effects negatively on their health.
