Time Management and
OrganisationSuccessful, calm individuals have effective time
management skills. They are able to balance theircareer or academic commitments with relaxation,
socialising and sleep. We will never have more
hours in the day, so knowing how to prioritise
what happens during these hours is crucial.

TOP TIPSMake a to-do list daily and tick items off as you completethem.
Use a watch instead of a phone to tell the time it will stop you
checking messages from friends.
Record all events, deadlines and exam dates in a calendar
that you check regularly.Tell your friends/family about your plans. Statistically you will
be more likely to complete them.
Utilise short periods of time for quick tasks.
Take breaks; you will make fewer mistakes.Use your travel time to review tasks or find out quick facts.
Get enough sleep, drink water and eat your meals. You will
perform tasks faster and more accurately.
Give yourself ME time

Take an active role in supporting your son/daughter to help nurture High
Learning Potential; have open discussions about learning:
Proof read work (see information in booklet).
Guide them to and discuss subject handbooks, assignmentsand feedback.
Guide them to subject specific Help resources on FROG(handbooks, emails, set work).
Ask Questions e.g. What are you currently studying? What didyou learn at the study support session tonight? What are yourCF targets and HOW are you going to achieve them?
Support revising content. Test their knowledge and challenge their
thinking; dialogue and explaining to others impacts on retention and
recall of information.

without distractions (mobile phone/iPad/computer; are
they integral to their study?)
Managing stress; conversations versus confrontations?
Paid employment; how many hours and how often?
Put key dates on family calendar
Do not book holidays in term time
