New options for 18F HP Target Removal of hex grid gives increased saturation yield
Current design uses a copper nose piece with hex grid for Havar window support
• Hex grid prevents major window failure but copper gets highly activated which increases exposure when rebuilding target
Aluminum nose piece without hex grid option available • Aluminum doesn't get activated, but higher risk of window failure causing
distribution of activity and activated Havar material within the cyclotron– avoided by diligent PM schedule
