Shift to a more qualified workforce Parents are making increasingly informed decisions when choosing a service provider for the care of their children. Formal training, experience and qualifications are often part of their initial screening. As the qualification profile of workers within the early childhood education and care sector increases, so too has the expectations of qualifications for nannies. This introductory course is the first step toward professional qualifications that will increase employment opportunities for nannies

Nannies who complete this course and choose to continue study the Certificate III of Early Childhood Education and Care will receive credits for two units.

It offers nationally accredited early childhood education and care qualifications from entry level through to a bachelor degree. It has designed this short course to give nannies a pathway to the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care which is currently the minimum qualification for all workers in the children’s services industry.

Upon successful completion of this course students receive a TAFE NSW Statement of Attainment with the following units of competency: - Identify and respond to children and young people at risk of harm. (CHCPRT001)
- Participate effectively in the work environment. (CHCORG303C)
- Work in partnership with families to provide appropriate education and care for children. (CHCECE026)
- Support the holistic development of children in early childhood. (CHCECE010)
This is a short course that combines practical and theory in its training and assessment. The course is fully funded and designed to equip nannies with the skills and knowledge for a solid start to a successful career in early childhood education.

Short Course in Early Childhood Education for Nannies
Course structure Course timeframe:-‐ December 2015 -‐ June 2016.The time to complete all units would be 48 hours. Total time above does not include the time it will take students to complete assessment tasks.
120 hours of work placement within a regulated service. Work placement can commence January 2016 and must be completed by the end of May 2016. Work placement can be arranged to suit individual student needs. Overview of course timeframe:-
December 2015 – January 2016:
Identify and respond to children and young people at risk of harm. (CHCPRT001) -‐ 6 hours entirely online with support from one of our highly trained teachers.
January 2016 – March 2016: Provide experiences to support children's play. (CHCECE011)
- 12 hours entirely face to face. To be broken into 4 x 3 hour sessions either evenings (once per week) or on Saturdays (2 Saturdays – 9am-‐12pm & 1pm-‐4pm) depending upon cohort demand.
January 2016 – March 2016: Support the holistic development of children in early childhood. (CHCECE010) - 18 hours entirely online with support from one of our highly trained teachers. Face-‐to-‐face sessions may be incorporated depending upon cohort demand.
April 2016 – June 2016: Participate effectively in the work environment. (CHCORG303C) Work in partnership with families to provide appropriate education and care for children. (CHCECE026) - 3 hour face to face workshop - 9 hours online with support from one of our highly trained teachers.
