Making Community Exhibition and People’s Choice Award $500

This show presents work by members of Jervis Bay and Basin Arts Inc. As a non-selective exhibition all entries are welcome - from experienced artists and makers right through to those new to creative practice who are exhibiting for the first time.

JBBArts encourages all artists and makers who would have entered work into the physical Making Community show to exhibit in the online version. We also warmly invite all artists and makers who would have had their own exhibitions on the festival ArtPath to maintain a presence in SeeChange 2020 by submitting work.

Although different to a physical exhibition this opportunity offers artists distinct additional benefits:

• All works will be professionally displayed and photographed in a controlled environment compliant with COVID-19 requirements

• The exhibition will be curated and presented in a well designed digital gallery with easy to use shopping function

• Each artist/maker will have a profile with head shot and text, and option for a video clip speaking about their creative practice

• The exhibition will be open for 3+ months and actively promoted, increasing opportunities for exposure and sales.

SeeChange Jervis Bay Arts Festival 2020

Creativity and resilience win out yet again! SeeChange 2020 is now going digital!

If ever a SeeChange Festival embodied its name, it certainly is this year.

First, in response to the flow on impacts of the summer’s bush fires, this year’s festival was changed to be a smaller and simpler format than recent years. And now, in response to the impacts of COVID-19, there is no longer a physical festival at all, instead two major elements of SeeChange 2020 are going digital!

Making Community Exhibition and People’s Choice Award that would have been held at Sandholme Guesthouse will move into an online gallery on the SeeChange Festival website.

Visitors to the digital exhibition will still be able to revel in the creativity of JBBArts members; browse and buy a diverse range of visual art, small sculpture and crafted objects; support local artists and makers with every purchase, and vote in the People’s Choice Award for the work they most admire.

Present Now the multi-faceted arts project that would have been housed at Huskisson Community Centre will become a collection of innovative digital experiences.

The Present Now collective of 20 visual artists, sculptors, fibre artists, musicians, performers and poets are creating new ways to collaborate, blend their practices and produce digital experiences to surprise the eyes, stimulate the mind, and make the heart sing.

Virtual visitors will still be able to meet the makers, see them creating, try their methods, hear them give talks, take virtual guided walks, and share how these creators see our changing world and our place in it.

Jervis Bay and Basin Arts is firmly of the view that the arts have an important role to play in the lives of our local communities - enabling restoration, recovery, strengthening connections and building resilience. It’s this belief that is prompting us to persist with SeeChange 2020 as a collection of digital experiences.

We are delighted this bold and exciting move is fully supported by Shoalhaven Council.
