Student & tutor responses
Students liked viewing events from “real people’s lives”
“It’s nice to be able to see the garments worn by the people of the day, rather than in a still image or hanging in a museum.”
Some were inspired to make their own films as a way of exploring ideas about movement.
A few were uncomfortable with archive films and not sure how to approach them as research material.
A tutor commented: ‘a wonderful resource - the immediacy of non-fiction film is extraordinary.'
