Our mission
To stimulate the transformation of our conventional ways of thinking and acting in relation to water and
sanitation towards more holistic and natural systems, closing nutrient loops, in order to stop our
planet’s degradation and to improve quality of life in a context of economic, social and ecological equity.
Sarar Transformación is a reference and support center, focusing primarily on sustainable descentralized
water and sanitation (ecosan) systems and related issues. Our highly creative, dynamic interdisciplinary
team of experts is committed to assisting individuals and groups in Mexico, the rest of Latin America,
as well as other parts of the world in developing sustainable alternatives through:

The main objective of a sanitation system is to protect and promote human health by providing a
clean environment and breaking the cycle of disease. In order to be sustainable, a sanitation system
has to be not only economically viable, socially acceptable, and technically and institutionally appro-
priate, it should also protect the environment and the natural resources.
CONSULTING
Our consulting services are articulated around a variety of workshops, based on
SARAR/PHAST participatory methodology. We have a range of didactic materials
and tools, such as technical guides, posters and manuals, and other supporting
graphic material which are helpful in the training process which we share with all
the users.
Sarar combines two powerful and complementary strategies:
1. Use of participatory methods to involve and empower local communities
with a fuller understanding of their environment; and
2. Design and promotion of decentralized sustainable sanitation and water
systems.
SARAR SERVICES
TRAINING
We offer regional courses and workshops tailored
to the needs of particular groups and institutions,
integrating both social and technical aspects of
sustainable water and sanitation systems, including:
