OUR LADY OF GRACE CATHOLIC ACADEMY
“SHARE THE LOVE”CHARITY PROJECT This weekend, January 14 & 15 students from Our Lady of Grace
will be in the Church vestibule after all the Masses trying to raise
donations and awareness for a very special cause. Julia Bruzzese,
an extraordinary and loving 13 year old girl has been suffering a
mysterious illness that was later diagnosed lyme disease ever
since May of 2015. This disease has caused her to lose the ability
to walk. She is now wheel chair bound. She suffers from chronic
pain, loss of hair, loss of consciousness and much more. Our pa-
rishioners, Diana Rotondi and Antonia Capobianco are a part of
“Team Julia”. They along with their classmates are asking for
your help. Please help them help Julia.

sor all day Eucharistic Adoration from after the 9am Mass until

ment, in the Church. Exposition will conclude with Benediction
at 7:15pm, Mass will begin at 7:30pm. All are welcome!

oversight of the parish and will work in cooperation with Fr.
Maduri and with Nicole, the parish Bookkeeper.
I wish them God’s blessings and heartfully welcome them as I
leave Sts. Simon & Jude Parish, and pray that they will experi-
ence your goodness, support and generous spirit, as I have these
past two and a half years.

CHOSEN AND SENT All the readings today have something to do with being chosen by God and doing His will. We are
all chosen by God, we are all asked to do His will. The people we hear about today; Paul, John and
Isaiah, all accepted God’s will and did what was asked. We are asked to do the same.
DO YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE RIGHT? As Catholics we are all expected to do God’s will. Many are willing, but how do we know what is expected? Firstly, we are asked to keep the Greatest
Commandment – love God with all your mind heart and soul and love your neighbor as yourself. That’s how we should all live, in addition, each of us
is called to follow the will of God. To know God’s will for us we must pray, in Mass, using Scripture and personal prayer; but that is only the first par.
We must also be open and willing to do His will; letting Him choose our path. Are you open to God’s will?
WINTER IS HERE After the snow last weekend, it is obvious that the winter is here. Hopefully we won’t have too much snow, but I am already wishing for Spring!
Just a few reminders about the cold weather:
-Don’t go out if you don’t have to, if you do make sure you are bundled up.
-For parents of our faith formation students, when the weather is questionable please check our Facebook page, it will be updated if we are cancelling
class due to inclement weather.
-Unfortunately there are many people who are living on the streets. Please help them by donating scarves, hats and gloves, we will have them distributed
through the Midnight Run.
SAINT FABIAN On January 20, we celebrate the feast day of St Fabian. Fabian became pope in 236, while that may not be something to celebrate, what can be cele-
brated was the circumstances of his papacy. Fabian was a layperson; meaning he was not a priest, and came to Rome after the pope at that time had
passed. While they were considering who to elect as the next pope a dove descended and rested upon the head of Fabian. He was obviously chosen by
the Holy Spirit! St Fabian is a reminder to us that ordinary people can achieve sainthood.
SSJ’s GOT TALENT It’s fast approaching – I hope you have all been practicing and are ready to show us what you got! Don’t forget talent show tryouts are January 27 in the
lower church at 7 PM.
TONY MELENDEZ On March 4 we will be having the amazing and talented Tony Melendez here at our parish. Tony had the privilege to sing before Pope John Paul, and
has travelled the world entertaining Catholics. What’s most amazing about Tony was that he was born without arms. Check him out on YouTube and
get ready to experience him live at our parish.
