•Located in Asia and Europe.

•Capital is Moscow.

• White stands for nobility.

• Blue stands for honesty.• Russians have only had their national

anthem for 9 years.

• The 4 largest rivers in Russia are Lena, Ob, Volga, and Yenisei.

• They are 4 of the largest rivers in the world as well.

• The deepest fresh water lake in Russia is Baikal.

Land Environment• The lower Ural mountains in Russia divide

it from the Asian and the European regions.

• Winters are as long as from November to march except in Siberia where the winters can be as long as nine months.

• Urban apartments are not as big as regular homes but they are very good for a family of three or less.

• You can find a lot of oil, natural gas, coal, diamonds and precious metals.

• New Year’s day is the most popular in this country.

• Except Christmas is on January 7th instead of December 25th.

• Victory Day is on May 9th that celebrates the end of world war 2!

• Education is optional for students between ages 6-17.

• Russia has 33 Cyrillic letters that sound similar to America’s alphabet.

• Some of the students in America are studying foreign languages like English, French, German, and Spanish.

• Russia has many sports but Hockey is the main sport or most popular.

• You might know a very good NHL player in hockey, his name is Alex Ovechkin.

• They can’t do many sports because of their long winters.

but sometimes the doctors don’t have the tools to save the people who are sick or injured.

• Cancer is the most popular disease in Russia, especially lung disease because there are a lot of smokers

• People in Russia can only marry in a wedding palace.

• In Russia the divorce rate is very high!

• Every 11 years there are approximately 1000 babies are born.

• In 1972-1725 peter the great was the emperor of Russia.

• The national anthem in Russia was by Alexander Alexzandrov in 1944 and was adopted by the Russians in 2001.

• Kavalchuk a left winger from New Jersey Devils.

Transportation

• Russia has cars and they have grown a lot since the 1980’s.

• People usually use public transportation but taxis are very expensive in Russia.

• They don’t use bikes a lot because of their long winters.
