According to Winnemucca Convention and Visitors Authority Marketing and Special Events Coordinator Dar-rel Field, dozens of street merchants will sell their wares during the motorcycle rally.
“We are excited to see the variety as well as the high caliber of goods that these folks will bring into Winnemuc-ca,” said Field. “Every year, there are all sorts of new and exciting additions.”
Friday, vendors will set up outdoors at the Model T from noon to 9 p.m. and at the Winners Hotel and Casino from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, both locations will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Field said vendors will sell everything from motorcycles to jewelry, leathers, food and even tattoos—both perma-nent and temporary. “I think we’ll see a lot of unique items, things that are custom-made,” he said. “It will be fun to buy, but also to just stop and look; everybody is welcome.”
There’s no doubt about it: Winnemucca will rock during Run-A-Mucca 2015.
“Bo and the Bluesdrivers” will keep things rolling from Friday through Sun-day. The blues-rock group is led by world-class guitarist Bo McMillian and longtime musical partners, bassist Brian “Chewy” James and drummer J. J. Gar-cia.
The three men, who describe their sound as “paying those hard-living dues,” formed following a chance meet-ing at an open jam hosted a decade ago by Chewy and J.J.
Bo, a veteran of the Florida music scene, has sat in with legendary drum-mers Buddy Miles (Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsies, Delfonics, Bootsy Collins) and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Artimus Pyle. He has an affinity for a variety of genres, from jazz, funk and soul, to rock and roll.
Saturday evening, “Savannah Blue” will take the stage at 7 p.m. This six-piece northern California band is not just a tribute to one of the great Southern Rock Bands, but a salute to all of the best, from Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers and The Outlaws, to The Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchet and .38 Special.
Even some of the more obscure
acts like Wet Willie, Blackfoot and the Ozark Mountain Dare Devils, are included in this all-hits celebration of the Southern Rock Era.
The band includes founding mem-bers Dean Fisher on lead guitar and Mike Cochran on bass. Scott Johnson is on lead guitar and vocals, with Don Nehasil on drums and vocals and Mike Macchi on vocals and harmonica.
Sunday night, “Lyvyn Skynyrd” will get things rocking beginning at 7:30 p.m. This quintessential Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band embodies the talent and energy of the original group.
Lyvyn Skynyrd evokes Ronnie Van Zant’s profound and powerful vocals, while highlighting the dual lead guitar riffs that Lynyrd Skynyrd made famous. The group also celebrates the original band’s entire catalogue, including hits like “Simple Man,” “Sweet Home Ala-bama” and “Tuesday’s Gone,” as well as deeper cuts such as “The Needle and the Spoon” and “Poison Whiskey.”
Authenticity to the music is at the core of every Lyvyn Skynyrd perfor-mance and each musician truly person-ifies an original member.
Lead singer Andrew Mazzarelli (Ronnie Van Zant) channels the power and humanity that Andrew felt when he first saw Ronnie perform. Fellow
vocalists Shaun Bernadou (Leslie Haw-kins), Deborah Angelo (Jo Jo Billingsley) and Liz Parks (Cassie Gaines) bring additional depth and charisma to the stage, while bass player Gregory J. Lemke (Leon Wilkeson) and drummer Max Burnette (Artimus Pyle) provide a strong rhythmic backbone that enhanc-es the experience.
Rick Dekker (Steve Gaines) and Neil Nyssen (Gary Rossington) expertly intertwine impressive guitar licks with vitality and wisdom. Nyssen also cap-tures the trademark slide guitar that turned songs such as “Free Bird” into anthems, and Roger Mielke (Billy Pow-ell) does an exceptional job providing a Southern rock vibe on the keys.
Also, don’t miss “Alias,” which will take the stage at the Model T from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, and “Decoy,” which will play the Winners East Lot from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
“Our Run-A-Mucca guests are going to love all these bands, and so will our local community,” said Winnemucca Convention & Visitors Authority Mar-keting and Special Events Coordinator Darrel Field.
Field added, “We want everyone to come out and enjoy themselves during these free concerts.”
Run-A-Mucca participants are invited to play the hand they’re dealt—literally—Memorial Weekend as the motor-cycle rally returns for an 14th straight year to Winnemucca.
As part of the three-day event, organizers are inviting local residents to purchase a “Run Package” for the rally in order to participate in the very popular Poker Run and Stagger sched-uled for Saturday and Sunday.
The weekend’s highlight will be Sunday night’s raffle of a new 2015 Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle. Tickets cost $20 each or six for $100; only 2,000 tickets will be sold.
Saturday’s Poker Run will begin at 11 a.m. and run until 5 p.m. Participants will visit five stops around town including the Paradise Valley Event Barbecue. The goal will be to build the best five-card poker hand. The reward will be $1,000 cash.
Entry forms are available at the Winnemucca Inn at event check in for $20 without a run package; cost is $10 with the purchase of a run package.
Participants also may pick up coupons good for an extra card draw at the Say When Casino in McDermitt, The Owl Club in Battle Mountain, and The Alamo Casino in Mill City.
Sunday’s Poker Stagger will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include five stops—all with the object of building the best five-card poker hand. The winner of the best hand will receive $400 cash.
Participants also may pick up coupons good for an extra card draw at the Say When Casino in McDermitt, The Owl Club in Battle Mountain, and The Alamo Casino in Mill City.
