Change brings opportunity. Wemust grasp and use it to continue our good work to ensure a betterfuture for those whoserve. When someoneasked a farmer, “Whatare you doing today ?”He replied “I’m enjoyingthe hard work of thepast.” We dounderstand the farmer’s nuanced response – that all we too have alegacy of more than 114 years and urging us to do better. All stepswhich need planning, coordination, prowess and hard work. And,there is many a slip between the cup and the lip. Finally, success onlycomes accomplishing all the tasks on the right time.We Rotarians know there is no such thing as overnight success.Thomas Edison once said, “Genius is one percent inspiration and 99%perspiration. Learning is an ongoing process. Learning is personal – itflexes with our needs, our learning style & our planning.Rotarians work well with well thought out plans & strategies and anarmy of 1.02 million Rotarians over 200 countries to servecommunities around us.From July, we have full 12 months in front of us. From the Desk ofEditor :

The YearAhead ……Sharpen the saw tolearn new skills, aligncore competencies of your team for synergy, look for win-win situations in your Clubs, and prioritise activities forbetter management

Listing out the dos and don’ts during their ‘waiting period’.The Presidents are chosen two years ahead to give themsufficient incubation period during which “you can planand set your goals by first observing the District Projects, activities and understand the system. But unless heprepares diligently, he cannot accomplish much.

He should adopt a proactive attitude and be the inspirationto carry the entire team and Club with you lead the Clubwith passion. He should be careful in selecting for his teamtrustworthy members with proven track record in Rotary’ssix focus areas.

In an interactive session on Strategic Planning, RIDEBharat Pandya said only a vision accompanied by work willchart out their destiny. “We need to make our Clubsvibrant with service activities and for that we must identifyand plug their weaknesses.”

A vision accompanied by work will chart our the destiny tomake the Clubs vibrant with Service activities. Together wesee the Club where people unite and take action to createlasting change in our community. He must have regularbrainstorming sessions to understand, analyse thestrengths and weaknesses of their team and revise theirgrowth strategies accordingly.

The more you practise, the more confident you become. Here, the facilitators and trainers play a key role inencouraging Club participation, building consensus fromdiverse views, sustaining high-energy levels amongmembers, and act as catalysts to project a good Rotaryimage in the community.

Rotary funds should be used in a responsible andtransparent manner with good governance andmaintenance system. Take care of the members for hand-holding & their retention. Also please add new membersfor the growth of the Club.

Unlike earlier, when the President-Elect period wasregarded as “honeymoon years”, the scenario has changednow as “Rotary is expecting a lot from you and you have tolive up to the exacting demands with planning andstrategic vision.

For the success of anorganisation, it is important thatits goals & plans are workedupon effective to turn dreamsinto reality.

“The first emphasis is to grow Rotary — to grow ourservice, to grow the impact of our projects, but mostimportantly, to grow our membership so that we canachieve more,”

RI President – Mark Maloney

Maloney believes that connection is at theheart of the Rotary experience.

Rotary allows us to connect with each other,in deep and meaningful ways, across ourdifferences. It connects us to people wewould never otherwise have met, who aremore like us than we ever could have

known. It connects us to our communities, to professionalopportunities, and to the people who need our help.

Maloney also called on every Rotary and Rotaract Club toidentify segments of their community not represented in theirClub.

Through Rotary, we connect to the incredible diversity ofhumanity on a truly unique footing, forging deep and lastingties in pursuit of a common goal, in this ever more dividedworld, Rotary connects us all.

We need to foster a culture where Rotary does not competewith the family, but rather complements it. That meanstaking real, practical steps to change the existing culture:being realistic in our expectations, considerate in ourscheduling, and welcoming of children at Rotary events onevery level.

It is time to adapt, to change our culture, and to convey themessage that you can be a great District Governor withoutvisiting every Club individually, and a great Presidentwithout doing everything yourself.

Rotary has worked alongside the United Nations to addresshumanitarian issues around the world and Rotary offerssomething no other organization can match: an existinginfrastructure that allows people from all over the world toconnect in a spirit of service and peace and take meaningfulaction toward that goal.

SERVICE – FRIENDSHIP - FUNTake Action, build International Understanding andmake new friends around the world. Develop yourleadership skill, while you discover the Power ofService Above Self, and find out how seriousleadership can be seriously fun.

Great Expectationspreceeds GreatSuccessHigh expectation always precedeshigh achievement. You are assmall as your controlling desires, oras great as your dominantaspirations.

Once your mind stretches to a newidea it never goes back to itsoriginal ...

Think little goals and you canexpect little achievement. Thinkbig goals and you'll win bigsuccess. The first ingredient of yoursuccess is to dream a great dream.
