This week in Nursery Class we ventured down to Rosemary gardens to do some activities with Forest School teachers! We used our ears to listen and talk about all the different noises around us and then made our very own sound maps to help us find our way. We followed a trail around the park, gathered lots of different colours and then used the environment around us to build houses for some creatures!
Also, as part of our transport topic, River's mum Holly came into our class to talk about living on a boat! The children really enjoyed looking at her pictures and asked some very thoughtful questions!
On Tuesday all the classes and adults working in the Early Years had some very special visitors in to take us on our first Forest School session in the wooded space at Rosemary Gardens. We all got stuck in the sunshine and hail and did some really fun learning in nature with the Olivia and Seema, two Forest School leaders from inthesticks. Some fun activities including making colour palettes from natural materials we gathered, as well as going on a trail to find the poor woodland creatures who had lost their homes. They had left messages and clues for us to follow and we all worked very well with our friends to build them some new ones, each one was unique and had some lovely individual touches. We can't wait to continue on our Forest School learning journey each week. Watch this space....
Yesterday, in perfect sailing weather, Year 1 took a trip on the Regent’s Canal all the way to the Canal Museum near King’s Cross. Each of the children had the chance to steer the narrow boat and to open the locks, and the children learnt an awful lot about narrow boats and canals when at the museum. It was a great experience, and Year 2/3 will be looking forward to the same experience next week. Press for more.
Yesterday we had a special guest (one of our parents) spend some time with our Year 2/3 children. She showed them how to meditate, read them the story of Siddhartha and talked about the special occasion to Buddhists called Wesak which is being celebrated this weekend. It was a lovely, calm morning and the children really enjoyed the story and receiving a lovely little gift. Here’s our comic book…
This week the focus was to show good manners throughout the day. We always want all our children to use their great manners all the time and the children who won prizes this week did just that. Next week’s focus is to put away things once they’ve been used and be helpful to others when keeping the school tidy.
The Musician of the Week this week goes to Hugo in Nursery Class. His sense of beat and rhythm is really improving; he did very well during our percussion session on Tuesday following various signals and stopping and starting with the group. He now plays with an awareness of others and he is developing confidence with performing in smaller groups and solo work. Great job, keep it up!
The Artist of the Week went to Alexis in Reception Class for his contribution to the big forest scene the class are working on. His enthusiasm and skill is admirable. Well done!

Nursery Class Erik has been incredibly helpful this week. He's kept the classroom lovely and tidy and has been keen to share the toys with all his friends. His listening skills have been fantastic with both children and adults! Daniel has grown in confidence since he started nursery and it’s been a pleasure to see him blossom into such a happy and energetic boy. He's always kind and helpful with his friends and he's fantastic at sharing his toys with everyone. He's also been very enthusiastic with our transport topic this week! Reception Class Yvie When doing tap dancing with George’s mummy and the class on Thursday this week
you showed great enthusiasm and enjoyment – especially when exploding like popcorn!
Year 1 Iris for being very mature and kind to her friends, helpful in class and working really hard this week. Well done you! Year 2/3 Ava and Ollie for showing a great attitude towards their learning this week. They have been working hard, listening well on the carpet and bringing a lovely atmosphere to the classroom. Well done!

ISI Inspection NEXT WEEK
As I’m sure you’re aware, next week from Tuesday to Friday, we will have a visit from the Independent Schools Inspectorate. There will be a team of three inspectors who will undertake a thorough inspection of Rosemary Works School. We are all very excited and looking forward to sharing the wonderful things we are doing with the children here at school. Please remember to complete the questionnaire by Sunday as emailed to you earlier this week. It’s important for them to receive your views.
Early Years Buggies
There is still a lot of congestion with collapsible buggies left in their open position in the buggy park. This photo was taken earlier today and shows at least six collapsible buggies taking up a lot of space. This is clearly a trip hazard and as a final request, I implore you to collapse your buggies. Keep collapsible buggies to the left and scooters and bikes to the right. Thank you.
