ROCKING SAGE LIVING

In the winter of 2018, St. John’s Hospital Foundation

Board Member Patrick Trucco came to the team at the

Foundation with an idea that he had been dreaming up to

support Sage Living, the new long-term care community

at St. John’s Medical Center. He wanted to partner with

local artists who could design and paint one-of-a-kind

Adirondack rocking chairs for display at prominent

businesses throughout Jackson Hole. e hope was that

these chairs would do two important things for Sage

Living: raise the awareness of the project and the benet

to seniors and their families, and also raise funds to

ensure the success of the campaign.

Patrick’s vision became a reality this spring as one artist

after the next enthusiastically accepted the invitation to

paint a rocking chair. Businesses also jumped at the

opportunity to participate by sponsoring chairs for the

summer. anks to the incredible support of 25 artists

and the sponsoring businesses, the community has a

unique opportunity to bid on the chairs and help the

campaign for Sage Living reach its greatest level of success.

e chairs are available for purchase through an online

auction until September 15. A Roaring 20’s Rocking Sage

Living Community Celebration will be hosted at Teton

Pines on September 19th. In honor of the Hospital

Foundation’s 20th Anniversary, tickets are only $20!

Sage Living is located on the northwest corner of the St.

John’s Campus. Construction crews broke ground in July

and anticipate the total project to take 24 months to com-

plete. e services oered will include skilled nursing,

memory care, short-term acute rehabilitation, and

hospice.

Old Bill’s Fun Run is on Saturday, September 7th on

Jackson’s Town Square. is community event is a great

opportunity to get a big group from St. John’s out for the

festivities and 5K walk. Every year, volunteers push

residents along the course. Old Bill’s Fun Run is also

an important fundraising opportunity for the local non-

prot organizations and this year funds donated through

Old Bill’s to St. John’s Hospital Foundation will support

the Campaign for Sage Living! e Foundation will have a

booth on Town Square. Please stop by to say hello, receive

great giveaways, and learn more about Sage Living. e

giving period is open through September 13th at the

Community Foundation of Jackson Hole.

ONLINE BIDDING | one.bidpal .net/rockingsagel iv ing

I am honored to have the opportunity to contribute

to Sage Living at St. John’s Medical Center. I chose to

capture the amazing Bison on the Adirondack chair.

e Bison is a symbol of abundance and determina-

tion. I enjoy using many bright contrasting colorful

paint strokes to create an uplifting design. It is a

pleasure to be part of a community that organizes

events such as Rocking Sage Living.

is chair was inspired by symbols and patterns used in African mud cloths. e symbols were used

to tell stories of bravery, wisdom, compassion etc. I think rocking chairs are made for storytelling and

that led me to this design idea. I hope this chair can help “rock the sage” Living Center!

My goal was to bring the traditional

framed, canvas-painted landscape to

a piece of usable furniture. I wanted to

convey the pastoral, rural, ranching

imagery that surrounds our area and

inspire a little bit of respite and calm.

Just as rocking in a chair induces

relaxation and a little happiness I used

images that invoked in me the same.

Enjoy!
