DMZ
HS – Port forwarding and
address translation for
secure remote TCP
connectivity between
mobile devices and CES
CES – Functions as a gateway and maintains
a user profile. Each mobile client creates a
TCP connection with CES. Multiple Aura
services are delivered through this single
connection. CES has backend service
adapters to interface with Aura services.
MM/AMM – Required for visual voicemail.
Notifications are passed through CES to mobile
clients. Voicemail files are retrieved by CES,
transcoded to MP3 and downloaded from CES to
the mobile device for playback.
CM – CES connects to CM’s EC500
Adjunct Trunk Interface. CES can
connect directly to CM or through
SM. CES instructs CM how to set-up
outbound calls. CES also instructs
CM where to send inbound office
calls (eg. to mobile or home). CES
continually receives and stores call
log updates from CM for 24x7 call
logs.
SM – Provides a resilient and
scalable routing architecture.
Avaya recommends using SM to
connect CES to CM.
APS – Delivers Presence information for a user’s
CES Favorites list and contact details. Mobile client
users can also manage their own presence status as
seen by others. CES connects to APS using SIP and
sends updates through the TCP connection with
mobile clients.
Avaya
Communicator
PSTN – CES uses the PSTN and
cellular voice network to establish
calls. CES can only initiate “call
using” calls
LDAP – For user authentication and for corporate
directory searches. Name lookup allows CES to
display names instead of ph#s in call logs.
