Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I A.) All adults who desire to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation are invited to join

us as we begin our classes in September. The R.C.I.A. process has its roots in the early Church and is a faith

journey that will prepare adults for full reception into the Roman Catholic Church while answering their questions

and supporting them on their personal journey of faith to a deeper relationship with Our Lord, Jesus Christ. It is a

journey of prayer, study, discussion and celebration for:

-Adults who are not Baptized and wish to enter the Church.

-Adults who are Baptized into another Christian denomination and wish to become Catholic.

-Adults who are Baptized Catholic but have not received either First Holy Communion and/or

Confirmation.

-Adults who are not Catholic and are married to a Catholic and attend Mass and other services/activities

regularly, and would like to learn more about the Catholic faith.

-Adults who have children preparing for their First Holy Communion and /or Confirmation and would like

to celebrate the Sacraments with them.

-Adults who are Catholic and have received all of their Sacraments, but feel the desire to learn more

about their Faith.

The desire to learn more about the Catholic Faith is a gift of God. The Holy Spirit works within an individual, a

family, a Parish, to increase, enhance and enliven a deeper relationship with Christ and His Church. If you feel this

desire, then come and join us. If you know of someone who would be a good candidate, invite them to join the

Church, to join our Parish, through the R.C.I.A. journey. If interested, please contact Monsignor Colacicco at

677-3422. Our sessions begin on September 12th; we will meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm in the Parish

Hall.

Parishioners who are interested in learning more about their Catholic Faith are also invited to join us for these

sessions. Your presence will be a sign of support and encouragement for those seeking to join the Church. We will

be using a new program called CREDO, an excellent presentation of the Catholic Faith produced by the Thomistic

Institute of the Dominican Friars and published by St. Benedict Press. Please join us.

UNCLE AL’S THRIFT SHOP

This is an exciting week! BAG SALE begins on Monday, Aug. 13. Ever go to a bag sale? It’s super bargain time and

it’s fun! Pick up your brown grocery bag from the desk and scurry through the clothing sections, putting your

choices in the bag (hint: fold as you go gets more in the bag). At checkout, you pay just $5 per bag. That’s

women’s, men’s and children’s clothing (except for white tags), even items that were recently marked. It’s

nearing the end of the season, and we need space for fall clothing.

There are lots of other bargains — great prices on items to keep baby safe and happy, sports equipment,

housewares, jewelry (pieces are added frequently), linens, pictures, lamps and one-of-a-kind items. Our

volunteers are always busy sorting and marking new donations so it’s good to stop in often to see what’s new at

Uncle Al’s.

Uncle Al’s is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00am– 4:00pm and is located at

3275 Franklin Ave.; phone 677-5002. Donations can be left during shop hours.

All proceeds benefit St. Joseph-Immaculate Conception Church.

Perpetual Novena in Honor of

Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal

On Monday, August 20 we will join thousands of Parishes throughout the world who honor Our Lady

with the Perpetual Novena of the Miraculous Medal. The Novena will be prayed each Monday following

the 7:30 morning Mass. Booklets with Novena prayers will be available.

Almost immediately after the medal was struck and distributed to the faithful, wondrous miracles of

healing and conversions took place. Our Lady promised an abundance of graces to those who honor her

by wearing the Miraculous Medal.

Please join us in prayer as we express our love, gratitude and unfailing confidence in Her all-powerful

intercession.
