Simplified Online Reporting tool.
History of data dissemination
Data were distributed in hard copy only.
A means by which to distribute data electronically was explored, QSP chosen.
QSP Data disaggregation
Create groups Ask questions related to the groups Drill down to very specific criteria.
Statistical analysis QSP provides information on how
dependent variables are affected by independent variables. Example: How do bus riders perform on the CSTs?
QSP Feedback from users:
Focus meetings with principals and staff.
Feedback from teachers during trainings.
We are in the process of creating an online survey for data needs.
QSP continued… Strengths
QSP is great for program analysis, and answers complex questions.
QSP allows great flexibility for designing queries about groups.
QSP has been provided under a grant through UCLA (gratis).
Limitations Complex interface Simple classroom data not
easily displayed (requiring multiple steps)
Individual student data is difficult to isolate (philosophy against individual analysis)
QSP continued… Limitations
Requires teachers to update students entering and leaving class on a regular basis.
Inflexibility: As with similar commercial products, it uses proprietary design, users are not allowed to modify the coding.
Goals Increase teacher, principal, and staff use of
data by reducing complexity. Increase accuracy of data by automating
student updates from SASI. Instill confidence in the use of technology to
identify student need. Increase flexibility in response to board and
administration goals and needs.
Immediate solution: Complement the strengths of QSP with a companion
application.
