By: An Ohara I researched about American Christmas. There are some differences between American Christmas and Japanese Christmas. First, American people don’t eat KFC on Christmas. They eat a homemade dinner with turkey and other foods. Also, they eat cookies instead of cake. One American tradition is to leave out a plate of cookies for Santa before bedtime, so when he comes to your house, he can have a snack. It’s a way to thank Santa. Second, American people put presents under the tree. Then children are given a lot of presents, maybe about 5-10 gifts per child. Third, Japanese people spend Christmas with their boyfriends or girlfriends, but American people spend it with their families. American people enjoy house parties. American Christmas is happy.
Finally, I’ll introduce my New Years. I go to a shrine every
year and worship with my family. Then my relatives come to my
grandmother’s house. We eat osechi and talk there. The day is fun, so
I’m looking forward to the New Year!

Do you know Marvel? Now, Marvel is developing a lot of
things such as comics, movies, bags, shoes, pen cases, and so on. So, I
want you to think about, “what is Marvel?”
First, do you know what type of company Marvel was at
first? It was a comic company. Marvel Comics was made by Martin
Goodman on January 12, 1939 as “Timely Comics.” Marvel created
many characters, like Captain America, Spiderman, and Deadpool. By
the way, Marvel collaborated with TOEI, who made the original
Spiderman. It’s totally different than Marve’s Spiderman!
Then Marvel made movies, which were a little different than
the comics. In 2009, Marvel was bought by Disney. Now Marvel is
continuing to succeed in a lot of things.
What do you think? I want you to be interested in Marvel.
In February, the ESS club will hold a Movie Night to watch Marvel’s
“Guardians of the Galaxy.” Please come watch it with us!
By: Yota Oki Do you know OCF? It is the Oral Communication Festival. This is the biggest event for me this year. The ESS clubs from other schools came to Gionkita high school to give presentations and play games in English. This year, about 30 students came to our school. Yasufuruichi, Hatsukaichi, Koyo, and Gionkita joined this event. First, we gave a presentation. Our presentation is titled, “English Around the World.” We introduced three kinds of English: American, British, and Australian. I was in charge of America-English, but I had no knowledge about it. So, I started from zero and I searched for information on the Internet myself. After that, I wrote a script and checked the scripts of other members. In addition, we made a PowerPoint and some funny quiz questions. As a result, we made a special presentation! During our speeches I was nervous, but I did my best. We won the Award of Diligence. We worked hard, so I’m glad! After the presentation, all the students from other schools played some games together, like riddles. For these games, I was the leader. I made everyone excited but I found that it was difficult to be the leader. I had a good time. Through this experience, I found that the presentation was very difficult. But I hope that this experience will be useful for us in the future.
By: Shota Tanimoto “Guardians of the Galaxy” is a 2014 American sci-fi action film, written and directed by James Gunn. This film’s main characters are: Peter Quill, an outlaw treasure hunter who calls himself “Star Lord;” Gamora, a beautiful alien assassin; Drax, a strong and crazy alien; Rocket, a chatterbox racoon; and Groot, a living tree. Where’s this oddball team’s adventure heading? Now that exams are finished, let’s watch it together! The ESS club will hold a Movie Night in February. We’re going to watch this movie. We’re really looking forward to it!

The Lotus Elise is a lightweight sports car that has been in
production since 1996. The production of this car is rumored to be
discontinued next year. Two years ago, the company announced the
EV supercar named Evija.
So, the Lotus Elise is an
excellent sports car for
lightweight sports cars. It has
left behind a historic legacy in
the history of lightweight cars.
