Application

General description

VAGM22isstandardattractedarmaturerelaywithsevenequalsettingadjustableonaplugboard.

Adccoilisusedwithaninternallymountedbridgerectifiertoobtainadropoff/pickupratiooftheorderof90%.Aresistanceconnectedinserieswiththecoilistappedsuitablyandthetapsareconnectedtotheplugboardtoobtainsevenequalsetting.Acapacitorisusedtoserveasafilterunitforthebridgerectifieranditalsoactsasasurgesuppressorforprotectionthediodesofthebridgerectifieragainsthighvoltagetransients.

The dc coil is fittedwith a normally open light duty contactwhichisarragedtoenergiseanauxiliaryunitwhichprovidesthenecessaryoutputcontacts.

TypeVAGM22isasinglepolerelaywithitsauxiliaryunit.

Therelayscanbefitted,ifrequired,withanoperationindicatorontheauxiliaryunit.Theindicatorishandresetbymeansofapush-rodprotruding through the relaycase.On theunder-voltagerelay,ofreverseoperationindicatorisfittedi.e.itoper-atesondrop-offorlossofvoltage.

Contacts

Uptothreepairsofstandardself-resetcontactscanbeprovidedontheauxiliaryunitoftherelayinanycombinationof‘Make’and ‘Break’. Theauxiliaryunit is alwaysenergizedbyanor-mallyopen,lightdutycontactoftheVAGunitincaseofunder-voltage relay. The auxiliary unit can be fitted with blow-outmagnetcontactsalso,ifrequired,forbreakingheavyorhighlyinductivedcloads.

The normal position, regarding the contacts, is the de-ener-gisedposition.

Case and finishRelaysaresuppliedinsinglepole,metaldrawoutcasessuitableforflushmountingarefinishedeggshellblackandtropicalised.Thedrawoutfeatureconsiderablysimplifiesmaintenanceandpermits testing to be carried out easily and quickly. A cradlemountedisolatingswitchisprovidedwhichautomaticallyiso-lates the trip circuitwhen the cradle assembly iswithdrawnfromthecaseformaintenance.Thispreventsanyinadvertenttrippingofthecircuitbreaker.Thecasecanalsobefittedwithswitchestomaintaintheunder–voltagetripcircuitsonwith-drawaloftherelayunitfromthecase.Afilterbreatherisfittedtoequalizepressureinsideandoutsidethecasewithoutadmit-tingdust.
