A NOTE FROM PASTOR DIXIE
Where are your affections? Yes,
we have affections for our family
and friends, but are they taking
the place of, or above, our affec-
tion for the Lord? What a beau-
tiful time of the year to walk with
Jesus. We should have such joy
and peace in our lives that it ra-
diates out in our daily living. So,
dear friends, perhaps it is time to
do some reflecting on your per-
sonal life. Are you living in the
fullness of His love? Have you
surrendered entirely to the
knowledge that He loves you
enough to die for you? Have you
gone deeper in receiving the gift
of the Holy Spirit? Why wait?
This could be the best year in
celebrating the life of Jesus. I
encourage each one of us to
make these days the best ever
as we approach Easter. May it
not be just another holiday, but
rather a personal discovery in
our spiritual well-being.
Praise His Holy name !
Serving Him faithfully,
Dear Friends,
This time of year seems to be
transitional. The seasons are
changing from cold, cloudy, rainy
and snowy to clearer skies and
sunshine. The days are unpre-
dictable right now; however, one
thing should remain constant in
our lives, and that is the love of
Jesus. Do you sense His love for
you? As we begin to prepare our
hearts for this Lenten season,
may we pause and be still before
Him. This is a beautiful time of
year in the life of Christians to
celebrate the joy we have in a
Savior who gave His life for us!
Our Savior loves us so much that
he suffered and died for our
sins. I sense the Lord wants us
to bask in His holiness. In Colos-
sians 3:1-3 it states, “If you then
are risen with Christ, seek those
things which are above, where
Christ sits on the right hand of
God. Set your affection on
things above, not on things of
the earth. For you are dead, and
your life is hid with Christ in
God.” We are to lay aside the
things of this world and focus on
Christ, who is with the Father.
You will seek Me You will seek Me
and find Me, when and find Me, when
you search for Me you search for Me
with all your heart. with all your heart.
I will be found by I will be found by
you, says the Lord.you, says the Lord.
Jeremiah 29: 13-14

NO ROOM FOR JESUS
by Lori Cartsensen
There’s no room in the inn
for Jesus,
No room for his tiny head.
Won’t you open your heart
And let your Savior in?
He was there when you
needed Him;
He was there to see you

All the pains and sorrows,
All the days of gloom.
Do you remember that

That told you He had always

PRAYER CORNER
WHAT A BLESSING TO PRAY FOR OTHERS
“The season of Lent is altogether at home in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. While it has not been as prominent a feature in evangelicalism in generations past, the season of Lent bears the emphases that are so much at the heart of evangelicalism: an awareness of our need for grace, a deep convic-tion of sin, a profound appreciation for the sufferings of Christ on our behalf, and a hunger to be shaped and formed into greater likeness to Jesus.
In the early church, the season of Lent was typically the time during which new believers were pre-pared for their anticipated baptism into the Christian faith. That initiatory rite often occurred on Easter Sunday. The season was therefore focused on spiritual preparation, repentance, and the forming of new habits and new relationships, accompanied by fasting instruction, and spiritual guid-ance.
Through intentional engagement of this unique season, we are reconnected to our human frailty and to our continual need to turn to Jesus for healing, hope and holiness. Our eyes do not stay fixed on our sin, failure, or mortality, but are drawn with an ever-increasing intensity to the Savior. The Len-ten season– leading us toward the celebration of Easter with awe, gratitude, and humility– guides us through a time of needed introspection, of confession of our need for the grace revealed at Calvary. It is a good season for a renewal of spiritual disciplines like fasting, compassion, self-examination and Scripture reading.
