On 08/24/2020, Officers were dispatched to the City of Southfield Community Center in the 21000 Block of Indian St. on report of a B&E Alarm coming from the building. Upon arrival, Officers located a broken out 1st level window near the Southwest corner of the building. Additional Officers arrived and the building was completely searched. No one was in the building and it was unknown if anything was taken.

Victim states she came home and discovered her apartment door damaged and opened. She went through her apartment and found her pistol was missing from where she keeps it. Victim has several surveillance cameras in her apartment and they were knocked down and the memory cards were missing/ unplugged. Victim logged into her cloud and retrieved some of the video from the incident. The video shows her ex-boyfriend is the suspect. The suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation.

Officers were dispatched to the 26000 Block of Berg Rd. (Apartments) for reports of a Domestic Assault & Auto Theft. Victim states she was walking out to her car when her former boyfriend knocked her down, took her car keys and cell phone and then took off with her vehicle. On 08/31/2020, Southfield Detectives contacted victims Financial Institution which is the lienholder on the vehicle. They pinged the location of the vehicle which was showing the vehicle at a location in Troy, Mi. Detectives made the location and discovered the vehicle parked in the parking lot unoccupied. There was accident damage to the driver door of the vehicle. All major body parts of the vehicle were still intact. The vehicle was recovered. The ex-boyfriend has been identified and incident is under investigation.

Victim last saw his motorcycle at approx. 10:00am. It was parked at 21020 Winchester, at the end of the driveway. At 11:00am he noticed his motorcycle was missing. Nobody had permission to drive his motorcycle. The keys to the motorcycle were attached to it. The blinkers on the front of the motorcycle are broken. Note: Victim thinks his ex-boyfriend stole the motorcycle. A neighbor stated he saw suspect store the motorcycle inside his residence at a location in Detroit. The address was given to Detectives and they went to the residence and attempted to make contact. The suspect nor motorcycle were located. The ex-boyfriend has been identified and incident is under investigation.

On 08/27/20 Officers were dispatched to the 24000 Block of Lafayette Cir. to look for a stolen Black Dodge Charger with dark tinted windows. The vehicle was not at the location at that time. On 08/29/2020 while driving by the residence Officers observed a Black Dodge Charger with dark tints and a black racing stripe backed into the driver way. Officers obtained the Vin# and ran it. It came back confirmed stolen out of Oak Park. Officers made contact at the residence with a male subject. He stated that his friend had the car towed to the residence last night. The vehicle was recovered but the license plate was still missing from the vehicle. Note: Officers have been out to this address for prior stolen and felony vehicles in the past few months. On 07/28/2020 a stolen White Dodge Charger was recovered. Incident is under investigation.

Southfield Officers were dispatched on report of an Auto Theft just occurred at the Car Dealership in the 28000 Block of Telegraph Rd. A 2016 Silver Dodge Ram P.U. Truck was stolen and was driving S/B on Telegraph Rd. (Employee’s following) Officers located the vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop after Officers activated their Lights & Siren. The vehicle fled from Officers S/B on Telegraph Rd. until it was involved in a vehicle crash at 7 Mile & Telegraph Rd. The driver was taken into custody for UDAA & Fleeing & Eluding. Back at the dealership, it was learned that the suspect pretended to be a new employee and was taken to the area where they detail cars. At some point the suspect got into a Silver Dodge Ram P.U. Truck and drove it away. Two employee’s witnessed incident, followed the suspect and phoned the police.

R/P states she went to residence in the 30000 Block of Everett to get her hair done by a friend she has known for 10 years. Because the two drank alcohol R/P decided to stay the night. R/P states her friend woke her up at approx. 2:00am and told her she was going to the store and would be back. R/P woke up around 9:00am and realized her keys, vehicle and her friend were all missing and gone. The suspects son advised that his mother is a drug user and regular leaves and is gone for several days. Most likely took her car. On 08/30/2020 6:30pm Officers were dispatched back to same residence in the 30000 Block of Everett St. on a report that victim’s vehicle was in the driveway at this location. Officers located the stolen vehicle and attempted contact at the residence. No contact was made. Suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation.

R/P (owner) advises they were in their hotel room when the suspect knocked on their door. They let the unknow B/F in the room and gave her a plate of food. After the female stayed a little while she said she was leaving. Shortly after the suspect left, about 15 minutes, R/P began looking for the keys to his vehicle and discovered they were missing. He went outside to look for his keys and discovered his vehicle was missing. On 08/31/2020, MSP recovered the stolen vehicle on N/B I-75 at the Warren Rd. exit. Officers were dispatched to the 29000 Block of Lancaster Dr. for an LFA that just occurred. R/P stated the suspects arrived in a Red Chrysler 300. The R/P reported that she saw two suspects. R/P thought one of the suspects was attempting to steal the wheels and tires and one suspect was driving the Chrysler 300. When the Officers arrived on scene it was discovered that the suspects took the catalytic converter. The Wheels and Tires were secure. No further suspect description.

R/P returned home from the Southfield Jail after being arrested for Domestic Assault to find items missing from his apartment. The female victim in the Domestic is suspected of taking several items from the apartment after R/P was arrested. She is the only one that has keys for the apartment and there were no signs of forced entry. Officers made phone contact with suspect and she admitted to taking some, but not all the items. She advised the items that she took were hers that she had purchased. Incident is under investigation.

Victim states sometime overnight someone entered his vehicle and stole his wallet. Officers viewed video footage from a neighbors Ring Doorbell and observed two males trying car door handles and walk away if they didn't open. The footage was captured at approx. 1:16am Suspect Description: Suspect #1: - Unknown male, slim build - Wearing quarter zip hooded sweatshirt, white/light blue/dark blue in color, black sweatpants with black or grey stripe on the sides, and black backpack. Suspect #2: - Unknown male, slim build - Wearing black hooded sweatshirt, dark colored pants, red backpack.

Special Attention: Recent Criminal Activity at the Apartment Complex in the 25000 Block of Shiawassee (LFA’s & Auto Theft) 1)(LFA- License Plate) 08/20/2020 From: 08/17/2020 4:00pm To: 08/20/2020 7:00am 25000 Block of Shiawassee Rd. (Apartments) A license plate was taken from victims 2015 Chevy Equinox. 2) (Auto Theft) 08/24/2020 08/24/2020 8:36am 25000 Block of Shiawassee Rd. (Apartments) The vehicle was taken some time between 12:00am- 1:00am. Note: A gold 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe was also stolen at the same time, however it was registered to R/P’s uncle and he did not have any paperwork on the vehicle, nor could he get ahold of his uncle. Methamphetamine – Deliver/ CCW- 1- Arrest 08/25/2020 3:46pm W Nine Mile Rd. & Providence Dr. Officer stopped suspect vehicle for traffic violations. After approaching the vehicle Officer observed a handgun between the driver’s legs. Officer radioed for back up and recovered the handgun w/o incident. The driver cooperated and advised he did not have a CCW. The magazine for handgun was recovered from the drivers pant pocket. Additional Officers arrived on scene and assisted on this investigation. During the search of the vehicle Officers searched a back pack and recovered suspected marijuana, scales, a plastic zip lock bag containing numerous empty small baggies, an old prescription bottle with no label containing several pills suspected to be ecstasy or methamphetamines & an undisclosed amount of cash. (All $20.00 Bills) A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested a sample of one of the pills. It tested positive for possible presence of Meth (MDMA). The driver was arrested for CCW/ PWID Meth.

A window was also broken out and the vehicle was rummaged through. Nothing was taken. Occurred sometime overnight, between 9:00pm- 8:56am.
Assault w/ Intent to Murder- 1- Arrest 08/28/2020 5:45pm 26000 Block of American Dr. (Hotel) On 08/28/2020 Officers were dispatched to 26000 American Dr. (Hotel) on a report of a Domestic Disturbance. The female caller was alleging that the male she was with wasn’t allowing her and her daughter to leave. While officers were in route, dispatch received a call from the male half stating he was shot at in the hotel by the original female caller. Officers arrived on scene and met with the original female caller and her daughter across the street from the Hotel. Additional Officers arrived on scene and went to two hotel rooms possibly involved in incident. Officers recovered evidence indicating that shots were fired inside the hotel. Officers also reviewed video surveillance from the hotel that the female shot at her boyfriend in the area where evidence was recovered. A handgun was recovered in a nearby trash can. The firearm would later be confirmed as stolen. The male subject (victim) was not located at the time of the incident. He was later contacted and agreed to come in for an interview. During the interview, he refused to cooperate because he didn’t want anything to happen to his girlfriend. The female was taken into custody for Assault w/ intent to Murder. During her interview, she also refused to cooperate but did say that the gun belonged to her boyfriend and there was a struggle over the gun and it accidently discharged. This is contrary to the video evidence. Incident will be presented to OCPO for review.
Special Attention: Assist Other Department/ Homicide Suspect Taken into Custody. 08/27/2020 12:39pm 27000 Block of Northwestern (Hotel) Southfield Officers were dispatched to the 27000 Block of Northwestern Hwy. (Hotel) to assist the Detroit Police Department with an arrest of a homicide suspect. DPD surveillance units observed the suspect exit a room and requested a marked unit to stop the suspect. DPD Homicide Apprehension Team observed the suspect leave the Hotel and he was currently walking on Northwestern Service Dr. Southfield Officers located the suspect and he was taken into custody w/o incident and turned over to DPD.
CSC-1st Degree- 1- Arrest 08/29/2020 2:00pm 27000 Block of Greenfield Rd. Victim states she met subject at a gas station in Detroit. After speaking with the subject, she gave him her phone# and they parted ways. The following morning the subject called her and invited her to his place to smoke some weed. Victim went to the subject’s apartment and they talked for a while. At some point suspect pulled out a handgun, blocked the doorway and threatened to harm victim. He then forcefully and w/o her consent sexually assaulted her. The victim told victim not to say anything and she immediately left. Victim hurried out to her car and she called 911 to report incident. Investigation: Detectives developed a viable suspect. The suspect was placed into a photo show and it was shown to the victim. The victim positively identified the suspect. On 08/31/2020 Southfield Detectives and TCSU Officers set up surveillance on suspects residence. He was later observed leaving his residence and taken into custody w/o incident.
Special Attention: Larceny of Packages that were ordered and delivered via Common Carrier. How to prevent this from happening to you! Recently several citizens have had packages that were delivered to their residences and apartments stolen prior to them retrieving the packages. Citizens can prevent this from happening by scheduling a specific time to have the package delivered and be waiting for the package. Citizen can also schedule the package to be picked up by themselves at the common carrier facility.
DWLS/ R&C Stolen License Plate- 1- Arrest 08/30/2020 3:41pm 21000 Block of Greenfield Rd. Officers stopped a vehicle that was confirmed to have a stolen license plate attached to it. After stopping the vehicle Officers learned that the driver had a suspended driver’s license (Numerous FCA’s & FCJ’s/ 5- Prior Suspensions). The driver was arrested for DWLS and R&C < $200.00. The stolen license plate was confiscated as evidence. The suspect was lodged in the Southfield Jail.
