My design philosophy is rooted in understanding the client,
the surrounding environment, and the desired feelings evoked
within the space to create beautiful, yet functional interiors.
I believe that a space should tell the story of its location,
history and the people who occupy it. I think that function and
form come hand-in-hand and whilst it is important for a space
to look aesthetically pleasing, it must be easy to inhabit and
designed for longevity. I am passionate about sustainability and
believe that it should be considered within all design choices.

BRIEFThe property was a shell flat on the fourth floor of a new development
in Battersea, South West London. The space is approximately 100m²
and features West and South facing windows. The client wanted 2-3
bedrooms, a utility room, ample storage and sufficient space to entertain
up to 8 people.
CONCEPTThe concept for the flat is ‘regeneration: the cyclicality of nature’.
Regeneration is about renewal and is an important part of nature and life
in general. When living in a busy city like London it becomes especially
important to be able to relax and recharge.
DESIGNThe flat was designed to be comfortable and welcoming - a sanctuary
from the hustle and bustle of busy city life. The colour palette selected
for the apartment is designed to evoke a sense of calm. The design of
the living and dining rooms incorporates natural materials, earthy tones
and lots of greenery, providing a daily connection with nature. The living,
dining room and bedrooms benefit from as much natural light as possible,
which is proven to boost mood.

BRIEFTo design an eye-catching, exciting and visually attractive 10m²
temporary exhibition stand to help the brand generate public and media
interest and enhance existing brand loyalty.
CONCEPTThe concept for the space is ‘Naked Truth’. This concept was chosen to
showcase the company’s honesty and transparency in everything they
do, from product development to marketing.
DESIGNThe stand was designed to be completely transparent, so that visitors
can see everything in the stand from outside of it. In the centre of the
exhibition is a physical representation of truth - the ‘truth box’. The
truth box has several interactive experiences integrated into its design,
including an infinity mirror room. The exhibition meets Section M
regulations and is fully accessible by wheelchair users. The ‘nakedness’
of the stand has a strong visual effect and will draw visitors in and leave
them with a lasting impact that Deciem is synonymous with transparency,
honesty and openness.

BRIEFTo design a wall between an open plan kitchen/dining room and a small
cinema room using the materials cedar and steel. Sustainability needed
to be considered throughout the design.
CONCEPTThe client’s mood board displayed a monochromatic palette, straight
lines, sharp finishes, geometric forms and warm touches.
DESIGNThe concept directed the focus of the design towards geometric shapes,
linearity and contrast. There are no bends or curves in the wall partition
design, making it completely linear. Contrast was incorporated in
multiple forms across the design: the graininess of the wood against
the smoothness of the steel, light and dark, and symmetrical versus
asymmetrical patterns. The blend of the light-coloured cedar wood with
the blackened steel creates a bold aesthetic, and combined with the
use of straight lines, sharp finishes and modern detailing, this design
achieves the contemporary and ‘cosy black and white’ look desired by the
client.

BRIEFTo propose a creative, budget-conscious design for the first floor of the Neurokinex centre in Gatwick, which is aimed at children between
the ages of 8 and 15 who are undergoing rehabilitation for neuro-disabilities.
CONCEPTThe concept ‘The sky’s the limit’ is aimed at creating a space that is positive and motivating but also does not shy away from the hard
work and challenges that lie ahead for the centre‘s clients. In line with the ethos of Neurokinex: ‘redefining possibilities’, the concept
takes a positive outlook on challenges and emphasises progress. The image chosen to represent the concept is a mountain-scape over
different hours of the day, representing not only the client’s challenges but also their progress.
DESIGNWith a blend of soft and bright colours as well as wood finishes, a comforting quality runs throughout the first floor, which allows patients
to feel at home. Plants by the windows, pillows, beanbags, soft mats and an L-shape sofa which patients and family members can sprawl
out on make the space feel more homely. Optimism radiates through the walls. Motivational imagery and inspiring words flow around the
rooms. The support and community that is the essence of the place can be felt. It is welcoming and interesting, inviting patients to explore
the space, with different activities and textures running along the walls. A dominant feature of the design is the triangular, mountainous
shape, which is featured in many forms throughout the space.

BRIEFTo refurbish the bedroom and living room of a one bedroom flat for a
professional couple. The client wanted their bedroom to be a haven of
tranquillity where they can rest and sleep well and a living space where
they can entertain family and friends, watch TV and have quiet time to
read and relax.
CONCEPTThe concept for the flat is ‘Shibui’, which is a Japanese aesthetic sense of
simple, subtle and unobtrusive beauty. The seven elements of shibui are
simplicity, implicity, modesty, naturalness, everydayness, imperfection,
and silence. Shibui objects appear to be simple overall, but include subtle
details such as textures that balance simplicity with complexity.
DESIGNA neutral colour scheme has been selected for the apartment to create a
relaxing and inviting atmosphere. Simple and minimal furniture has been
selected to create a feeling of zen. The space has been designed to be
liveable, comfortable and cosy, the ideal place for the client to relax and
step away from the stresses of their busy jobs. The use of design features
from multiple styles – traditional Italianate (inspired by the style of the
building) and contemporary - help achieve an eclectic look in the flat,
which is the client’s style preference.

BRIEFTo design a bar, restaurant and workshop space for the award-winning
creative hub, Carousel, in Imperial Wharf. The design needed to reflect a
consistently changing atmosphere.
CONCEPTThe concept for the restaurant is called ‘Panta Rhei’, which is a Greek
term for ‘everything flows’. It was inspired by the idea of creative flow, the
winding River Thames that flows near the restaurant‘s site, and the brand
itself, which has an ever-revolving schedule of chef residencies, events
and workshops.
DESIGNThe design features curvy, organic shapes to represent ‘flow’, including
a curved bar and a ceiling installation that winds around the pillars which
sit within the centre of the space. The colour palette is earthy, which
makes the restaurant feel warm and welcoming, but also keeps the
space neutral. The neutrality of the restaurant‘s design will allow for the
space to be easily flexed through the use of different art, accessories and
dishware, allowing guest chefs to add their own touch to the space, and
for the space to be quickly adapted for events and workshops.
