Fieldhead Factors and Step Sanctions

AtFieldheadCarr,ourcodeofconductisbasedontheFieldheadFactors,asetofstatementslinkedtothevaluesunderpinningourschoolandtherightsstatementstheysupport:Responsible,Respectful,Reflective,Cooperative.Resourceful,PerseveringWhenchildrenarerewardedfortheirlearningbehaviour,thesealsolinkclearlywithoneoftheFactors.StickersaregiventochildrenseentobeexhibitingbehavioursthatdemonstrateourFieldheadFactors.Our‘Factors’arebasedontheprinciplesoftheGrowthMindsetandunderpineverythingthatwedo.Ourstaffandpupilsareincrediblyproudtobepartofaplacethatthrivesonthiscreativeandthirstyattitudetolearningandwearewellknownforitwithinourcommunity.EachweektheclasswhohasearnedthemostpointsfortheirFieldheadFactorbehaviouriscelebrated.Thetoptwoindividualpointwinnersperclassaregiventheopportunitytotradetheirpointsforprizes.

WhereachildisstrugglingtofollowtheFieldheadFactors,weoperateour5stepsanctionprocedure.Thesanctionsarebasedonapositiveandrestorativeapproachtobehaviour.

• STEP1-Verbalwarning• STEP2-5minutestimeoutwithintheclassroom• STEP3-10minutesinthequietspaceintheGreenRoom• STEP4-TimetotalkwiththeLearningMentor• STEP5-TheHeadshipTeam

Weaimtosupportchildrentoimprovetheirbehaviourthroughasystemofsanctionsthatareusedconsistentlyandfairly,andthatareunderpinnedbyopportunitiesforreflectionandrestorativeconversations.Staffareclearwithchildrenaboutthereasonwhytheyhavebeengivenasanctionandencouragechildrentogetbackontrackasquicklyaspossible.Followingsanctions,childrenaregiventheopportunitytohaveafreshstart.

General Information Attendance Ifyourchildcannotattendschoolforanyreason,youmustletusknow.Beinglateforschoolandmissingschoolthroughabsenceseriouslyaffectsachild’seducation.PLEASEDONOTREQUESTHOLIDAYLEAVEDURINGTERMTIME.TheGovernmentdoesnotallowustograntholidaysduringtheschooltermunderanycircumstances.Theschoolhastherighttofinebothparentsofachildforafamilyholiday.Thiscouldfarexceedtermtimeholidaysavings.Ifyourchildisabsentfromschoolforalengthyunexplainedperiod,theymaybetakenoffrole.Ifthechildistakenoffrole,theplacecouldthenbeofferedtoanotherchild.

Start and End of the Day Procedures Start of the day FieldheadCarroperatesa‘softstart’system.Thegatesareunlockedat8.45amandchildrenenterthroughthepupilgatesviaWhiteLaitheApproach.TheSiteSuperintendentstandsatthegatetoensurechildrendonotexitoncethey’veaccessedtheschoolsite.Whenthechildrenarriveinthemorning(from8.45),MissStevensandothermembersoftheSeniorLeadershipteamarepresenttogreetchildrenandparents.Theycanthenmaketheirwaystraightintoclassrooms.Supportstaffwillbeontheexternaldoors,welcomingthechildrenintothebuildingandhelpingthemwiththeircoats/bags.Inclassrooms,activitiesarecompletedquietlyattables.Weaskparentsnottospeaktoclassteachersatthispoint,asteachersareinclasswiththeirpupils.TheSiteSuperintendentwilllockthegatesat9amandthenensurethateachcloakroomdoorislockedfromtheoutsideensuringmaximumsecurity.Fromthepointoflockingthegatealllatepupilsmustgotothemainofficetobesignedin.

EndoftheDayBy3.30pmifaparenthasnotcollectedachildthenthechildisescortedtotheGreenRoomtoMissStevenswhowillthencontacttheparents/carersdirectly.Nochildwillbereleasedtoanadultwhoisnottheirparentorcarerunlessstatedontheformcompletedattheschooloffice.

WalkinghomealoneOnlychildreninyear5and6areallowedtowalkhomeunaccompaniediftheyhavebeengivenwrittenpermissionheldbytheoffice.

Wewillaskeachpupiltopayatripdonationtotheofficebeforethevisittocoveranycosts.

Theclassteacherwillthensendoutanotificationletteroneweekbeforethetriptoremindparentsofthedatethatitishappeningandwhatthechildrenarerequiredtobring.Anytripdatesforthehalftermwillbelistedinclassnewslettersatthestartofeachhalftermandwillalsobepostedontheschoolnewslettertheweekbeforethetripasareminder.

First Aid Procedures

AnychildinneedofFirstAidwilleitherbetakentotheGreenRoom,orwill bedealtwith in theplayground. Staff in theplaygroundhavefirstaidkitswiththem.Thechildrenaretoldnotcometotheofficetoaskforicepacksorplastersasallincidentsarerecordedbyfirstaiders,asspecifiedinschool’sHealthandSafetypolicy.

Parents will be notified, where necessary and a letter will be senthome with the child. In the case of head injuries, parents will beinformedbytelephone.

Inhalers Children’sinhalerswillusuallybestoredintheoffice,unlessrequestedbythechild’sGP.Staffarerequiredtoadministerinhalers.Olderchildrenwilladministertheirowninhalersundersupervisionofafirstaider

Theadultrecordsthenumberofpuffstakenontherecordsheet,whichiskeptinanindividualpouchkeptwiththeinhaler.

Administering of Medication Pleaseadviseusifyourchildistakinganymedication.Inordertosecureyourchild’swell-being,pleasealsoletusknowif/whenthereareanychangestothisinformation.Staffcannottakeresponsibilityforadministeringanymedicinesinschoolwithoutamedicalform.Onlymedicinestaken4timesdailywillbegiveninschool.Theseneedtobegiventotheofficewithacompletedmedicinesform.

Safeguarding Procedures

AtFieldheadCarrPrimarySchool,Safeguardingrunsthrougheverythingwedo.Ourpoliciesallreferencethegovernment’sdocument‘KeepingChildrenSafeinEducation’(2016).

Safeguardingisnotonlyaboutprotectingchildrenfromabuseandneglect.Itisalsoaboutdoingwhatisbestforchildrentoensurethattheyareprovidedwithopportunitiestobecomesuccessfuladults.

Safeguardingchildreniseverybody’sresponsibilityandchildrenhavearighttobesafeinallenvironments,forexample,athome,school,onthestreetandevenontheinternet.Itisthereforetheroleofteachers,learningmentors,doctors,nurses,socialworkers,policeofficers,faithleaders,sportscoachestoensurethatchildrenaresafefromharm.
