Need to get the Oracle SYS user password in order to upgrade the database.
Installation to be performed as user SAPBAK, as that user has the Windows administration privileges.

Downloaded and installed Java Runtime Engine version 1.4.2_19 into C:\Program Files (x86)\java\j2re1.4.2_19.

Accept the license agreement and download (right-click) the version for Windows x64

B. Oracle 9.2.0.6 Patch SetStop the system:
Stop all SAP services. Stop Oracle 9i. Stop the Oracle listener and any other Oracle services.
Apply the patch set:
In Windows Explorer, change directory to J:\OracleDVD\Patchset_9206_NT\Disk1\ Double-click on setup.exe. Click “Next” on the welcome screen. Enter “J:\OracleDVD\Patchset_9206_NT\Disk1\stage\products.xml” as the file location, and click “Next”. Enter “E:\oracle\TRN\920” for the Oracle home directory and click “Next”. Click “Install” on the summary screen. Click “Exit”.
Perform Post-steps:
Ensure there is 10 MB of free space in the SYSTEM tablespace. Set the SHARED_POOL_SIZE parameter to at least 150 MB [page 15 of the 9.2.0.6 patch notes] Set the JAVA_POOL_SIZE parameter to at least 150 MB [page 15 of the 9.2.0.6 patch notes]
Upgrade the database:
Start the Oracle listener Connect to the database as user SYS and migrate the database:
E:> sqlplus /NOLOGSQL> CONNECT SYS/<password> AS SYSDBASQL> STARTUP MIGRATESQL> SPOOL patch.logSQL> E:\oracle\TRN\920\rdbms\admin\catpatch.sqlSQL> SPOOL OFF
Review the patch.log file and rerun catpatch.sql if there are any errors. Then continue:

D. Preparation StepsWindows Firewall as already disabled [Installation guide, page 47]:

Right click on “Windows Firewall with Advanced Security…” and choose the “Properties” menu.
Note that the firewall was already “Off”. This means that we should not set it back “ON” after the installation as instructed in the guide.
Checked that partition C: was an NTFS partition [page 48]:
We are using the “single domain” structure using the “arysta” domain, and confirmed with John Border that none of the SAP servers are the Windows domain controller [page 49].
Set the Windows 2008 R2 server to ensure performance [page 50]:

In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\SolManSAPDVD\51038964\database\SAP
Double-click on sapserver.cmd.
Entered the drive letter “C:” and the Oracle SID “SOL”.
The Oracle 11g installer starts.
Just click “Next”.
Despite the warning, click “Yes”.
Just click “Next”
Just click “Next”.
Just click “Next” to install in English.
Just click “Next” to install the Enterprise Edition.

Just click “Next” to specify the installation location as C:\oracle and the Oracle home directory as C:\oracle\SOL\112.
After Oracle performs prerequisite checks (about 90 seconds), review the summary information and click “Finish”. The installation runs.
The installation finished.
F. Oracle Generic Patch Installation StepsSet the Windows 2008 R2 environment variable ORACLE_HOME:
Set environment variable %ORACLE_HOME% to C:\oracle\SOL\112
Log off the server, and back in again to ensure the environment variable is picked up.
Install the downloaded version of Opatch:
With Windows explorer, rename the directory C:\oracle\SOL\112\Opatch to C:\oracle\SOL\112|Opatch_as_installed.
Copy the directory C:\SolManSAPDVD\Oracle11.2.0.1patches\Opatch_11201_Generic_v3\Opatch to C:\oracle\SOL\112\Opatch.
Stop the Oracle Service “OracleSOL112ClrAgent” using Administrative ToolsServices:
(Right-click, then “Stop”)
Using PowerShell, apply the Oracle patches with Opatch:
Change the working directory to C:\oracle\SOL\112\Opatch Run .\opatch napply C:\SolManSAPDVD\Oracle11.2.0.1patches\to_apply
“y” to continue
“y” to continue. After about 5 minutes, the patching finishes:
Restart the Oracle Service “OracleSOL112ClrAgent” using Administrative ToolsServices:
