The OLPC proyect was presented byNicholas Negroponte, in the WorldEconomic Forum, in 2005.
Negropontes proposal was to develop andproduce low-cost laptops, and deliverthem to every child of school age in lower
income countries. For its implementation and success, it
counted with economic support andcollaboration of giants of the computerindustry such as Google, AMD, Red Hat,
News Corp. and Brightstar.

CEIBALs longer-term objective is to promote social justice by
promoting equal access to information and communication tools for all
our people.
A more dynamic learning environment that encourages innovation and
creates a culture of lifetime learning.
It is not oriented toward creating an IT-friendly environment merely
inside the classroom, but also outside: students are expected to takelaptops home so that the computer can then be shared among familymembers.
To bring Internet access to all Uruguayan homes. If we aresuccessful, Uruguay will be the most connected country in the world.

There are many myths about computers and robots, basic unknowns about what they can and what they
cannot do; that generates unfounded fears andunrealistic expectations.
The integration of robots and computer intelligenceis gradually happening in our society, and it is
important to contribute improving the knowledge ofthese technologies.
