FEED to Offshore Installations. Examples of our customized designs and
patented products include:■ Leg Mating Units (LMU's)■ Deck Support Units■ Lower Systems■ Fendering Systems■ Stoppers■ Motion Suppression Systems
Offshore Kinematics (OKI)
OKI supplied the Leg Mating Units
(LMU's) and Deck Support Units
(DSU's) for the CPOC Block B-17
float-over, which occured in August
2009. The 16,400 MT Deck was
transported and installed by the
Black Marlin, a Dockwise vessel.
Engineering and Design
OKI provides engineering and design assistance for float-over systems
and mechanical structures.
Engineering Services include:■ Float-Over Installation Concept Selection and Concept
Evaluation: Technical evaluation and feasibility analysis of the
installation alternatives, including different float-over
installation concepts.■ FEED: Develop system specification and float-over
installation procedures. ■ Detailed Design: Complete design and analysis of all
installation systems. ■ Onsite Supervision: Qualified personnel for supervision in
client yard and offshore during operations.
OKI also provides detailed engineering, design, and analysis of deck
support frames, offshore appurtenances, and motion compensation
systems for mechanical structures, including:■ Deck Support Frames: Complete design of support structures. ■ Appurtenances: Installation Aids, Boat landings, and Fendering. ■ Motion Compensation: Mechanical design of tensioners, compliant
guides and hydraulic systems.
Fabrication
OKI focuses on specialized fabrication of offshore mechanical systems,
such as float-over hardware and motion compensation systems. Another
area of OKI's expertise is general marine construction, which includes:■ Deck Grillage: Deck Support Frames and Load Spreading Structures ■ Platform Appurtenances: Boat Landings, Helidecks, and Bridges ■ Pressure Vessels: ASME vessels and related fabrications
OKI has developed the capacity to deliver specialty systems and general
fabrications in several locations, including the ability to perform
fabrication worldwide to suit the diverse needs of clients and projects.
OKI performs fabrication in the United States, Mexico, Indonesia and
China, while maintaining international standards of quality and safety. ■ United States: Houston, Texas and Houma, Louisiana ■ Mexico: Tampico, Mexico ■ Indonesa: Batam, Indonesia ■ China: TangGu, China
At the outset of each project, schedule and logistics are considered to
determine the optimum fabrication location.

The Kikeh Spar, constructed by Technip
and operated by Murphy Oil, required
LMU's with both vertical and horizontal
flexible components. OKI's Lateral
Compression Ring (LCR) was
incorporated into this design.
OKI uses 3D CAD software to
perform structural analysis and
visualize all aspects of design to
prevent any issues that may arise
during fabrication.
Testing
OKI performs testing services for all its production parts, testing all
functional components and then retesting full assemblies. During the
past 10 years, OKI has developed an extensive technical database on
elastomer components, sand lowering systems, and stressed sliding
surfaces.
Testing services include:■ Complex & Multi-Access Compression / Shear Testing ■ High-Capacity Compression Testing ■ Creep and Temperature Affects Testing
OKI is pleased to announce the world's highest capacity
compression test press:■ Compression Load: 16,300 MT vertical Load to 1.5 m Stroke■ Daylight: Part, Die, Mold sizes up to 7.6 m tall x 4.6 m wide,
with ability to expand height to suit customer requirements
The OKI Press is available to clients from multiple industries and
government and education entities for R&D, Testing and
Manfacturing.
Custom Systems
Elastomer:
OKI supplies a full range of custom elastomer, motion compensations,
and friction/wear systems for applications, including:■ Centralizing Risers & Reducing Riser Bending and Fatigue ■ Spar Air Can Compliant Guides with Multiple Stiffnesses ■ Spherical Bearings and Flexible Joints for FPSO, Riser, TLP, etc. ■ Compression and Shear Elements for General Applications
OKI works with clients to develop a custom design to meet the most
demanding requirements under dry, splash zone, or subsea environments.
Wellspring Cylinder:
OKI is now promoting its patented Wellspring Technology for fluid power
systems. This is a low-cost, ultra-high capacity hydraulic or pneumatic
cylinder. Power medium can be seawater, air, or other non-volatile fluids.
Applications include:■ Subsea Actuators: Wellhead Unlocking and Subsea Valve Actuation ■ Motion Compensation: Adjustable Stiffness While Under Motion ■ Stamping & Pressing: Ultra-High Capacity Compression Loads
One of OKI's core pillars of quality is the internal testing regime
required on all parts delivered to customers to ensure structural
integrity and performance requirements. OKI has constructed the
world's largest press of this nature to increase its current
capacity to accommodate float-over hardware for the heaviest
platforms in the world.

Research & Development
In addition to a strong core product line of float-over hardware, OKI offers
R&D services to customers for new products or modifications to current
products. During the R&D service, prototype parts are manufactured and
put through an extensive testing program to evaluate performance and
functionality. All tests are performed at full scale, integrated with actual
interface products to simulate actual operation conditions. OKI testing
requirements always meet and exceed the specified client functional
requirements. OKI now offers several additional product lines, which
originated as R&D projects:■ Spar Air Can Compliant Guides■ Secondary Well Head Disconnectors■ Riser Centralizers■ Riser Guide Devices■ Laminated Bearings
OKI has satisfied all customers in the past with R&D services for many
issues related to fatigue, energy compensation, and motion
compensation. Throughout the years, OKI has accumulated a vast bank of
testing data and is able to translate this information into new and better
products. OKI is well suited for R&D projects because of its efficient
production capabilities, vast industry knowledge and experience, readily
available testing facilities, and limited overhead.
OKI's extensive resume, including 12 platforms at 14000+ MT, forms the
foundation of our experience and expertise, which enables us to execute
