Welcome back to Term 4. I trust all of our families had a safe and happy holiday. The Higher School Certificate written examinations commenced this week, and we wish all of our students the very best of luck. I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the wonderful teachers at Nowra High School, who have worked so hard to prepare our students for their HSC, many running tutorial classes during the holidays and marking practice essays. We really are lucky to have such dedicated and caring staff who are always willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to support our students. We had some great news last week, with Samantha Peace winning Gold in the Discus event at the All School Athletics Championships at Homebush. Samantha will go on to represent NSW at the National titles in Cairns. Congratulations Samantha, and best of luck at the Nationals. Our hearty congratulations also to Zac Jones who won a Gold and Silver medal in his events – what an amazing talent! Late last term our Senior Boys’ Soccer team played in the South Coast Final against Smith’s Hill High School. While they were defeated 5-2 the boys made us very proud with their never say die attitude and wonderful sportsmanship. The boys finished runners up in the South Coast tournament, which is a fantastic effort. Special thanks to Mr Buckley for driving the boys to the game on the school bus. Year 7 had a great time at the Gala Day held at schools across the Shoalhaven. There is a report about the day in this edition of the newsletter. This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to practise their team work, skills and get active. Thanks to our PDHPE staff for the many hours they put in to making the event a great success. Have a great week.

BECOME A VOLUNTEER HOST FAMILY – IT’S FUN!
World Education Program (WEP) is inviting you to experience another culture in your own home by becoming a volunteer host family to an international student arriving in January 2014. Students
from Switzerland, Finland, the Netherlands, Brazil, Italy, Japan and Thailand are looking
forward to experiencing life in Australia, making new friends and becoming a member of an Australian family.
"Another excellent experience for the family. We learned a lot about Italy. Virginia was very helpful and cooperative at home. It is a wonderful thing to give people new experiences. Virginia had never eaten mango, been to ten pin bowling or held a crocodile or koala. This is the part I enjoy most about the
exchange; experience. Virginia will never forget
Australia." - Susan and Anthony, host parents of Virginia (Italy)
It’s easier than you think and a fantastic experience for all!
